I used to watch Judge Judy regularly some years ago. I was always impressed firstly by her quick thinking, and secondly, by her willingess to put herself on the line nationwide.

  5. Must be nice when an audience claps because you have the clap. Pity any poor lying sap who tries to take on Judge Judy. Especialy like her when its a dog cruelty type case - we think 'now youre gonna get it' - she is, after all, a lover of dogs herself. I had missed the syphlitic episode though.

I pretty much despise these types of shows (Jeremy Kyle, Judge Judy, Jeremy Springer, etc)

The premise seems to me to drag inarticulate people who cannot defend themselves and then badgering and humiliating them. Its one step above forcing slaves to fight to the death in the colluseum.

I would LOVE to go on the Jeremy Kyle show and I think there is a 50/50 chance I could actually cause him to die through an overload of self righteous anger.

I'd just keep throwing out lines like "why should I get a job Jeremy, when the people who do work pay their taxes to fund my benefits?", "I couldnt care less about my kids, what difference does it make to me personally if the little bastard if pyschologically warped his whole life by this... as long as I'm having a good time, so what?" "So what if I cheated on my pregnant girlfriend with her sister... she cant do any better than me and she knows it" etc etc until he had a stroke live on air.

But seriously, I find these shows pretty dispicable. And they would never pick a "victim" who had the guts and intelligence to answer back. I believe half the time they are just actors anyway. In a sense Springer offends me the least, because at least he admits the whole thing is a joke and tells people they are morons for coming onto his show.

I generally don't like these shows, but since Judge Judy is on during dinner prep, I end up watching her. I have to say I like her style. Precisely because of your point - SF - around the badgering and humiliation of the poorly prepared and greedy. It is a gas. Serious entertainment and much preferable to the ongoing tripe that is being presented by the networks such as bachelor shows, dance shows etc etc ad nauseum.

I despise Judge Judy. It's low-brow crap dressed up as serious just because there's the word "judge" in the name. The show's no better than Jerry Springer.

Speaking of fake court TV shows, how do you feel about Law & Order now that you've got the degree?

Judge Judy is a small-minded, ill-mannered petty martinet. The show is all about HER, and never about what is right or just. Her decisions show little depth of thought and her pronouncements regarding her intelligence and greater understanding of all things relating to human behaviour are simply egotistical chest-thumping. I remember her castigating a plaintiff where the defendant, an underage teen, had taken her car without permission, and damaged it. Judy claimed that because the plaintiff had once before allowed that boy to take the car, that, even though she had actually hidden keys after refusing the second time, she was at fault!! She had allowed it once and now had the temerity to think she could say no and make it stick? Isn't this exactly the same logic that blames some rape victims?? After you've said yes once, you can never say no?

There was an article about her in an Oregon paper I read on the Digg that said she would be hauled in front of a judicial review committee for her total lack of respect for the people before her, and that she would almost certainly be removed. The article cited a judge who was censured for much less abusive behaviour. Give me Maury Povich or Jerry Springer, please.
