Can I just say that I hadn't read the comic books or seen this episode...but this is almost EXACTLY what I dreamed about. Weird.

Just watched last weeks episode

OK, Fangirl, correct me if im wrong but the governor killed the military people to take their stuff and to make it seem as if no one can survive outside the walls of woodbury?? If so then why didnt he kill Andrea and michone?? Why did he kill the pilot?? More mouths to feed??

 

You are right, ralphie250.
The Governor has not yet determined if Andrea and Michonne will be of value. He has determined that the military is a threat to his leadership of Woodbury. I would say he does not trust them and logically, he's probably right--they would move in and take away his power. Control and power are very important to the guv.
The pilot was military and I suppose he was unfortunate to be thrown in with the rest of the military in that he was perceived by the Governor to be a threat, too.
We'll find out much more about what is making the Governor tick as we move along in the season. At least, that is what they are saying in interviews.

 

Ok, I've watched my second ep now. So forgive my ignorance. But it seems to me that a F2500 Ford truck could wipe out a small town just by running over them a few dozen times. So why doesn't the group find some kind of vehicle and just drive around looking for survivors, And if a few walkers get in the way, just run them over.

Or am I missing something?

 

Yes. One thing. Suspension of disbelief.
Tip: When watching a show of this type, take your brain, stash it under your seat, proceed watching & enjoy!

Females keep the menfolk inside. I don't really know how to dress that up, but I just see it as a "moral booster". That's why booty/boobs are part of the "4 B's" of surviving a true breakdown of society.

I would think you would lose speed. One at a time, yeah, it could work. You starting hitting packs of zombies? You don't have enough distance to get back up to ramming speed. Plus no guarantee of killing the zombie, just maiming it. You would also have to armor a truck to do this, even just hitting zombies could damage a truck. If you could get a truck that had a engine in the back, armor plating, a tilted snow shovel type of front armored system and was high enough to keep walkers from getting to wind shields... then you could do it. This thing would suck down gas and only really be good for battles (think how siege equipment/artillery was used in pre-gunpowder warfare) for it to be useful. I would save gas for getting people there and back in a quick manner, more in the manner of cavalry.

 

Much of my hate for Michonne is the fact that no one else is the uber-warrior zombie killing machine that she is. She just seems so out of place compaired to the rest of them. It makes sense for Rick and Shane to be trained with a gun. They are cops, and have had that training. The rest of the group, to be honest, basically sucks early on because they are just your average person. The exception to this is Michonne. She's basically gone from your average lawyer (pre-Zombies) to Zombie killing machine, uber-badass warrior chick.

Now maybe they explained this after I had long given up on the comic due to their desire to kill every character I liked and leave only the ones I hated (comic spoiler:

mainly Rick and Michonne

) left alive.

As far as the Governor, now that we've seen him I dont mind the changes from the completely over the top Governor from the comics. It's not like he isn't crazy, he's just hiding it.

Yep. I get it. Thanks for filling me in. I have neither hate nor love for TV Michonne-- so far, she's a one-dimensional bad-ass, which seeing as though she's borne of a comic book character isn't entirely surprising.

I started watching last nights episode when i got home got half way through it and had to leave. So now i sit in the kroger parking lot getting pissed cauae i cant find the episode online to finish watching it. Most sites want me to sign up for something stupid...

 

Well. What to say? That was a change from the comic.
I've actually been okay with a lot of the changes from the comics. Killing Sophia? Totally worked. Amazing scene. Heartbreaking even.
Dale? Well that wasnt really for any other reason than the actor wanted out, so ok. I dig.
Shane? Best change they made. Bar none.
This one? Sorry. Didn't like it.

I'm guessing it's because the network didnt want to show the Governor gunning down Laurie and the baby

Too bad, because that was kinda a big deal at the end of the Governor arc...

 

I don't think we have seen the end of Lori. IMBD has her in 4 more episodes.... Maybe Carl didn't shoot her. Maggie had left the room.....What happened to Carol? Lost of questions...

 

Very sorry to say, we have SEEN the last of Lori, we may not have heard it though. She and IronE Singleton (T-Dog) wrapped shooting last June. Carl defo. shot her.

I dunno, but I do know that the actress, Sarah Wayne Callies wanted off the show for the same reason the guy that played Dale did (friends with Frank Darabont/hated how they fired him). She was very blunt in her interviews about wanting Lori dead. I think they rushed it to accommodate her.
Do you really think the network is squeamish about kids given what they did to Sophia? The show runners are gonna have to keep outdoing themselves. That baby needs to go to Woodbury so it can suckle (they have a prego woman there--could be the wet-nurse). Watching the baby starve wouldn't be any fun.

 

True about the Sophia thing, but there's a difference between a kid and a baby though.

 

Zombie-snack? They'd do it. Still think they'll give it away/trade for a hostage (that annoying blond) to prevent starvation.

 

Why did she want off the show??
