    Ladies and gentlemen,

I've finally managed to realize a long-standing desire of mine: I've acquired an SSL certificate for The TFP and turned on https for the site. This provides you with added security, meaning you'll be able to encrypt your connection and ensure that when you connect to the TFP you're actually talking to our server and not someone else.

In the coming weeks, we will be enforcing SSL connections. For the time being, consider it a beta feature. To use it, simply edit your bookmarks to point to the following:

    The TFP

    This also works for chat:

    The TFP Chatroom

You should notice that there is now a padlock icon in the address bar, and that there will be some green somewhere (the exact implementation of this varies by browser). You can also click the padlock icon to examine the certificate and see that it was issued by Geotrust.

Let me know if you encounter any troubles or spot any oddities.

Note: Depending on your browser, you may get a warning about insecure content being loaded. You may even have to manually approve it. This is third party content, notably facebook integration and a couple of other things. I'm going to see about pushing SSL for those items as well, but that's going to be a change in code so it's a bit more involved than adding a cert and flipping a switch. For now, know that as long as you've got the padlock you can safely disregard that message.

Martian kicks ass. Did Eden end up helping out in this?

fflowley Don't just do something, stand there!

Over the last several days I have had to log in each time I come to the TFP page.
In the past I was automatically logged in and "remembered".
I am running Firefox on a Mac.
I would prefer to stay logged in if possible.
Is this related to the SSL info posted above? Thanks.

Not related to https. Sounds like your cookie isn't getting stored correctly. Try clearing local cached content and see if that helps. It'll make you log in again but hopefully that time it will stick. You can do it by hitting cmd+shift+delete while Firefox is open.

Also, (duh, but) make sure when you log in you click on the "remember me" check box.

Hey I was there! Kinda. Not Really. I kinda just sat in chat and Martian told me it worked.

I will be helping later on when Martian shows me the difference between LAMP and you know... a lamp.
