sometimes i feel like i don't really do much of anything but nonetheless i have found myself swamped with something or another lately.

anyway, i like having both options available...

I'm enjoying this no matter what we follow, it makes me try and write. I think that's the whole point here, right?

Okay I posted #3. Now I have to read what you guys posted.

The problem I have with "both" is that you have people doing two separate things. That strikes me as spreading this out too thin. I'm leaning towards just sticking with Plotto.

The only other option I'd like would be to run Plotto, but then run a separate TFP FIG Machine. You know, keep separate threads.

I think that could work as well, Baraka, though I sort of like going to one place seeing what everyone has come up with every week. I'd hate to see this spread too thinly.

One could say it's the highlight of my day seeing a new story someone has put up on the same page as mine.

    /needs a life.:)

I'm going to put up a new Plotto thread soon.

I'd like to try setting up a parallel FIG thread this week too. I don't think having two different exercises going on in a single thread would feel right.

I don't know. What do you think?

Why bother with FIG? I haven't seen much of an any appetite for it.

If you do, I might give it try. Always up for a challenge - but only after my original Plotto is finished.

    PHEW ...

    I just found this:

Narrative - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

At the bottom, there is a clickable chart with those words that were in the FIG list, along with explanations of what they mean. Eg 'false antagonist'.

    :)

ARGH ... dang dang dang .... I've gone and lost my original post. It was an agreement with Jonie's embracing both plotto and FIG with emphasis on enjoying the challenges. It was also a vote of thanks to Baraka for organizing and hosting this ongoing literary project.

I saw it before the change. Thanks for the kind words. :)

So, one of the things with the FIG (and I've got one I'm working on), is that that is a LOT of stuff to fit into just 1,000 words. I certainly appreciate the flash fiction concept (actually, I'm kind of in love with it now), but it is kind of difficult to do with those constraints while still developing a coherent narrative. Could we possibly bump it up a little bit? I only need 200 more words... :D

Actually, I thought about that but forgot it soon after. I will bump up the FIG outputs to allow for 2,000 words because it's more prescriptive. I hope there's no objections.

I'd like to keep Plotto at 1,000.

i have a friend from out of town staying in the treefort and have been having a lot of fun, which may well result in not writing a piece for this go-round. so far i haven't written a word since saturday. but that's fine...we'll see though. one never really knows.

I've done one for each for the Plotto and the FIG this week. Then again, I have no excuse not to. I could do with an easy distraction or a friend in from town.

Still trying to push mine out. I've a good concept, but it's just coming out clumsy. It wants to be told, but I'm just having a bit of trouble getting it told. Ah well. We'll see if it gets done.

Sorry for the delay. I will post new threads early tomorrow.

As it happens, my participation in this isn't going to happen anytime soon. I'm am absolutely swamped with work-related things for the foreseeable future. The thought of writing something on top of the work I'm doing is itself excruciating at this point.

Though I do want to keep this going, even if my role is more that of curator/editor.

    Hi, Baraka_Guru

Again, I'll mention that I appreciate your doing this. You are providing an essential part of my backbone as I work on learning this craft. I am sorry that, at the moment, you don't get to enjoy the process of actually writing plotto pieces alongsida the rest of us.

    Best wishes
