Like our " Pointless Announcement" thread, this is where you can deposit your random tidbits of advice.

    Thank your teachers.'

It's always worthwhile to go back and thank a professor who has made a positive impact on your life. Especially years later when you randomly realize they taught you that really handy skill you find yourself using all the time.

"If you ask nicely, you are much more likely to get what you want."

Seriously, I can't emphasize this enough. The use of the word "please" and the foreknowledge that the folks you're asking ultimately can say "yes" or "no" goes a long way. We're too used to the fast food approach where they're going to give you what you want no matter how rudely you ask - provided your money is green enough. When it's not a financial transaction, you need to be just a little humble.

Even if it is a financial transaction, be a little humble. In most cases you're not paying the person standing there taking your money and it's highly likely that they're not being paid nearly enough to put up with your bullshit. So, yeah. Be nice.

If you come into a place of business, and there are dogs, DO NOT encourage said dogs to bark. Seriously.

When asked by your lady if her outfit makes her ass look big, be very careful with your answer.

People who act differently may have a disability. It may not be visible. Don't judge... Unless the prove themselves to be just an asshole, not living with a disability.

I always smile and wish people a good day or whatnot when dealing with anyone doing something nice, cashiers, service people, receptionist, et. Even if they're appearing or acting grumpy. You'd be surprised at the change in attitude or the startle response. It makes me feel better to improve someone's day. And it goes a long way.

Plan and Prepare before taking action. It will guarantee a higher percentage of success.

    Please stop being a jerk.

    Didn't work.

One of these days Asshole will become part of the DSM and labeled as a disability. Because you know Liberals and Conservatives.

Turn off all electronics and most lights an hour or more before going to bed. Melatonin: It makes you sleepy.

It'll never happen. We couldn't even keep Aspergers in the DSM. Oh shit, I forgot to send a PM. Who's the asshole now?

If you think you are twice as smart as everyone else, you are probably less than half as smart as you think you are.

If almost everyone you deal with seems to be a problem, it's not everyone else.

You never know what life has waiting around the corner, but that's no excuse for being utterly unprepared for something desired/expected.

If you are a scheduler for a hospital, don't be an asshole just because the patient didn't know how to spell the Dr's name. Yes I hang up on her and called again and got the sweetest person to help me out.

A little kindness goes a long way.

There's only one reason that people go to a hotel bar alone, and it's not the $14 martinis.
