This Just In.... a thread in an earlier forum was discussing about what gives with the feet washing ashore in British Columbia

i.e.: Hey Canadians what with the feet?

at the risk of sounding pedantic, I can't let this go - another foot in cold water* has been discovered:

Foot washes ashore in Vancouver, continuing eerie trend

Published On Tue Aug 30 2011

    The Canadian Press

VANCOUVER—Police in Vancouver say it appears a human foot inside a running shoe has washed ashore, the latest in roughly dozen such cases since 2007.
A news release says the foot and leg bone were seen late Tuesday afternoon floating in the water along the shore of Vancouver’s False Creek, a body of water that wraps around the downtown core.
Police so far have no theories about how or why the foot ended up in the water, and say the B.C. Coroners Service is also involved.
In the past four years, about a dozen feet encased in shoes have washed up on beaches near Vancouver, along the southern Georgia Strait and off Washington State.
Most of the remains are still unidentified, although investigators have identified at least two of the feet as belonging to men who had been reported missing.
In previous cases, police have said it appeared the feet separated from bodies naturally in the water and foul play wasn’t been suspected.

I think it must be a crazed roofer, or something. Those sun-rays will get to you after a while.

If only they could mellow out with a few tunes and possibly some homegrown, then they might have a chance.

I am with Fremen. It's likely the roofer that done it.

Checking him out would be step in the right direction.

  8. Heard there's a thought these feet are as a result of the Indonesian Tsunami in 2004. All the shoes are no newer than 2004, so that is possible. But we'll probably never really know.

Seriously, I believe these feet are from victims of a variety of tragedies (tsunamis, refugees getting murdered and tossed overboard, fishing and sailing accidents). The running shoes protect the feet, but the rest of the body is eaten by sealife or broken up by wave action. The natural sea currents bring them to the northwest Pacific where they end up in the straights around Vancouver. I read somewhere that a similar thing happens in the Atlantic where stuff washes up on the shores of Ireland.

The Pacific has more tsunamis and more refugees than the Atlantic does. We only hear about the boat people that make it to our shores. There might be many boats that take a load of people and kill them all and then go back for another load.

And heck, we're supposed to be getting more soon: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4238311...ience/t/japan-tsunami-debris-wash-west-coast/

I just find it odd that they're washing up around Vancouver, but we're not getting any down here.

The OPP have confirmed that a human foot was found in a woman's running shoe at an Ontario park last week. Canadian Press
Suspected human remains found in Presqu’ile Provincial Park, just south of Brighton in eastern Ontario, have been identified as a human foot.
Park staff found the foot, inside a women’s running shoe, on the north shore of Gull Island in Lake Ontario.
The shoe is a size 11 Mizuno brand for a left foot and is grey, black and pink.
Provincial police were called in to investigate on Wednesday. After working with the Ontario Coroner’s office, they confirmed Friday that the remains were human.
Anyone with information that could help with the investigation is asked to contact provincial police at the Brighton detachment.
