I had forgotten about Hershel's surviving blonde daughter when I watched episode 1. She strikes me as completely expendable but then again I really wanted to the Cop's pregnant wife in Heroes to get bumped off for season 2 and they went the horribly boring route of a divorce. Still have to finish S2 E1 for that series but I hope that Walking Dead does not f**k things up like Heroes already has from what i have seen of season 2.

I was thinking they were wasting a lot of ammo when clearing the yard. I understood when they covering Rick's back but they could have been smarter with how they were taking them out.
It still seems to that Rick's response to Hershel's injury was too late, as it was already in the bloodstream and had been circulating through his system for more than long enough. He was trying the "best alternative" for a bad situation though.

  3. Season 3 is out on August 27th and I assume out on Netflix around then too.

I am waiting for it to hit netflix, then I can watch everything beyond season 3/episode 1 and comment on them here. I am curious how it compares to the graphic novel and have no clue who this Governor fellow is as I know he has no part in the prison novel which is the last one I read.

  5. I actually want to read the graphic novel.....that makes me sound nerdy.

I prefer the ones I have read over the first two seasons, but do fully appreciate being table to see all of the desolation and gore.
edit: meant to add if I ever figure out how to solve the perpetually broke state I intend to buy them all as I am able to.

Just watched the finale last night (we have watched all 3 seasons over the last month) and I must say it was quite dissapointing. Great foreshadowing by whoever called the Gov just up and leaving to fight another day.

I was fully expecting Andrea to die but I was expecting her to take the Governor out with her.

Just looked for a free better than poor streaming option for season 3 and as I expected paying for the Amazon Prime thing was still the best option I found. I also saw that the dvds are due August 27th (edit: as zombiesquirrel mentioned previously, had forgotten about that but it does me no good right now in any event). I can wait until then and watch this new season as time allows. I am not paying for more than the first episode on itunes and can wait to see what happens in the live action universe when I can watch them properly.
Ep. 1 did end on an encouraging note when they found the surviving prisoners and then faded to black. Hopefully the writers at least followed the graphic novel enough to have the prisoners get into the weapons locker in the tv world as well and force Rick's group out. All I know about the governor fellow is he lives the walled town of Woodbury? if I remember a brief snippet I caught somewhere.

Not on Netflix yet. Still waiting for it to hit streaming so I can properly watch anything past Season 3, Episode 1(on a side note "Series 3" sounds so much more proper to my ears). Curious if Hershel survives that horrendous injury in the TV universe and I know the body count will definitly climb as the season progresses. I saw some glimmer in this thread about the brother missing the hand coming back as well which sounds exciting.

On AMC’s postapocalyptic romp The Walking Dead, Lauren Cohan plays Maggie Greene, a fetching farmer’s daughter with a penchant for spilling zombie brains when it’s called for (and it’s pretty much always called for). In the flesh Lauren trades her Southern twang for an English accent but doesn’t sacrifice any of the ass-kicking intensity and fiery good looks that made us fall for her at first glance. Or first impalement, really. And that’s why it’s the end of the world as we know it, and we feel fine.

Are you better equipped than most to handle the zombie apocalypse?
Than most people in the world? Yes, definitely. I mean, I don’t know if it will be death by zombie in the end,
but if it is I think I could probably do it.

Do you have a celebrity crush?
Jeff Bridges. It’s not a romantic crush; it’s just kind of an everything crush. I love him as an actor,
I love his voice, I love his smile. OK, now it sounds romantic—but it’s not!

What is the worst pickup line?
It’s somebody not being personal. The worst pickup line is any pickup line, I think.

What special skill do you have that nobody knows about?
Swimming! I was a competitive swimmer from age six to about 17. Swimming and singing, I guess.
They’re not really apocalypse skills, but that’s OK.

  12. Probably TMI and DaddySquirrel probably won't play along...BUT....

I have a little Glen and Maggie role playing scenario that plays through my head sometimes. So what if DaddySquirrel is Japanese, not Korean. Close enough.

I do want to have a walking dead marathon with him from episode 1. Maybe he'll be more amendable to the idea. ;-)

*This* close to buying the latest season on blu-ray. It would be nice to be able to post my thoughts on the tv universe and I would like to know who dies and what kind of gruesome deaths they do have. The zombies in the riot gear in the last one I saw were some of my favourites so far I think, that first young girl we see in the series opener carrying the teddy bear is still top on that list.

  14. Annnnnd this adorable Asian (Chinese) kid was just in my office. I have a fever. ;-) We talked about his recent trip across the US.

Funny because I was just talking to my friend from college, who is Asian herself, and we were discussing how neither one of us have ever really been "into" Asians. We're both with Asians. She is with a lovely Chinese woman, still fits her MO of "older" though, and I am with a Japanese guy. (He's younger too and I don't typically go for younger guys too. Only a 51 weeks younger. ;-))

    /threadjack

Anyway...when my Japanese Glen gets back from his work trip to Texas, I'll make him watch Walking Dead with me. Season 2 is where things will get interesting for us. ;-) Season 3 should be on Netflix next weekend I believe. I doubt we'll get through 2 seasons before then, but it's possible we'll watch all 3 seasons before the 4th one starts in October.....maybe...I dunno. If it was just ME who was watching these, then I'd have it all done by the start of Season 4.

Rolling with the next season finally thanks to Netflix. Just watched Series 3, Episode 2 - forgot the name/ don't really care.
Superb build up after episode 1. Rick is starting to get that cold edge when he needs it. Carl seemed a bit to eager to use that gun when Hershel barely stirred.
No idea what happens in the next one but definitely going to watch that in the next day as my schedule/ignoring sleep allows.

The Walking Dead (Season 4) Webisodes: The Oath (Cr: AMCtv)

The Walking Dead (Season 1, episode 1) (Cr: AMCtv)
Update: It seems that despite the outside seeming to be markedly different-looking from the hospital that we saw Rick escape from (in Season 1, episode 1), some of the setting of the new batch of Season 4 webisodes is meant to take place in Rick's hospital.
And the slightly deranged nurse-angel of death from the webisodes? She may well have been the one caring for Rick for the weeks he was "alone" in his room, waiting to see if/when he awoke what choice he'd make about life in the apocalypse or death.
It had never added up for me that Rick could have survived as long as he did without food or hydration. The nurse in the new webisodes would explain what otherwise seemed a plot hole to me. She mentioned that sometimes walkers "got in" so that would seem to explain her absence when Rick woke up. That, or she "mercy-killed" herself.
