Just upgraded my camera options with a model older than I am (not saying much I know). Went with a classic and found one that is in damn near perfect condition as far as I can tell.
Planning on using this more for B&W work right now but I am certain that some rolls of Fujifilm Velvia 50 are in my future as well.

Contrasted with my cheap point and shoot. An overall solid camera for the price range, I just tend to compare it to my DSLR and mainly see the shortcomings it has like lack of RAW, lousy bokah, soft images, horrible shutter lag, etc. anywho....

Profile shot of the same two. The Powershot fits comfortably into any shirt pocket out there with room to spare for comparisons sake.

So for the last week I was trying to buy a two-for-one SKS and M44 carbine deal. Finally able to do so today, working out where to meet and when, and the guy instantly bails on me as soon as he finds out I don't have a CCW... for a nearly four foot long gun. After a real breakfast I decide the hell with it and go to the gunshow anyway, where I stumble upon this beautiful coincidence that someone traded in to the vendor.

It's a 1944 hex receiver with SAKO and SA markings, non-matching serials, SAKO stamp on the stock, decent bore and crown that passes the bullet test nicely.

Nice. I've actually been looking for something similar to that just to have for fun. Mind saying about what you ended up giving for it?

I paid 325, which is pretty good for an m39. The general price scale is chinese mosin clones at the bottom, ordinary russian 91/30's, tula (and) or hex 91/30s, russian carbines, polish carbines though not by much, and then all of the finns at the top.

Jesus. A few years ago you could walk into some gun stores and buy a Mosin for $70 or 5 for $300, maybe $150 for one all matching in perfect condition. They wouldn't even put them on the rack, there was a barrel of them.

Obamarama drove prices batshit insane. A couple other m39s sold for $400-500 at the same show.

XL Classic Briefcase from Saddleback Leather. The pic makes it look far more reddish than it is, it is a rich brown color.

I've drooled over it for a long time, finally bit the bullet and ordered it. It is incredibly well made.

All of their products come with a 100yr warranty and their slogan is "They'll fight over it when you're dead". :p

I breaking the 'post a photo rule,' but here goes.

Yesterday I was in a resale shop that supports a center for women in crisis. I found a large sterling silver cross, very unique (obviously handmade, maybe one of a kind), that I thought my wife would like. My wife was able to make out the tiny makers mark--I really need to get my eyeglasses precrip updated--and we found out it was made by Larry Martinez in Taos, NM. We didn't find the exact cross on the LM website, but we were able to determine that the $8.00 cross probably cost well over $100.00 new.

That is just awesome. Me want. Sadly me broke, had to buy a new vehicle out of pocket (freaking Mexican insurance laws.)

Anyway sold on their products even before I read the company's page in memory of "Blue."

Yeah, the Blue stuff and stories on the site are pretty awesome. Ironically, most of the comments have come from the ladies. "That is seriously the most awesome bag I've ever seen" is the common theme. :p

I also have a notepad holder from them for work. The quality and look are top notch without being over the top gaudy.

I also kind of like the fact that most people don't recognize the name (the most common question I get is "what brand is that?"), since I got it because I like it and wanted it, not to show off some name or label for other people.

If I had unlimited funds, and if the amount I travel didn't make a carry-on with wheels almost a necessity, I'd spring for some of their luggage. But wheels are a non-starter with them. I think it is because they like their bags to be indestructible and wheels would be a weak spot.
