Simple enough rule, they need to be shots you have taken yourself and not something that caught your fancy online somewhere.
We can define macro just a bit loosely here and roll with the "macro mode" on the point and shoot models that is properly called "closeup mode".

My first subject on here is a GI Joe figure I have had for 25 years or so.
Reference shot with 50mm F/1.4. Never mind the poor focus, this is close as this lens can get.

This is with a recent Canon point and shoot, as close as it gets with "macro" mode.

and now a more proper shot. This is with a modified 35-80mm lens. These were the standard "kit lens" in the early 90's, dirt cheap now in price and image quality, and are only worthy of being used for target practice in stock condition. Remove the front element and you can do this though:

How different everything looks examined this closely.

Good shots, Speed Gibson, you may have convinced me to break my old macro lens out of mothballs....

Working on something to contribute. I hadn't pulled my camera out in a long time. It's been fun getting reacquainted with it. Hope to get to a computer soon to upload. Thanks for the inspiration!

Do you know what part of town this was? Asking out of curiosity as I spent all but 6 months of my childhood in that town.

These are very cool photos. I will dig some files out so I can participate, too.

I used to shoot tons o' macros. Of course when I want to find them I realize what a haphazard filing system I have.
I uncovered this one, at least...
