My wife had no problem during her clit hood piercing, and she's quite a baby when comes to needles (I'm not flaming, she admits it).

Nipple piercings can be visible through clothing including a bra, or nearly impossible to see, depending on the jewelry. The straight bar with the 'flat' cap ends is the least visible, but it's also the least fun to play with. My wife went with the captive ball rings, even though she has to be careful about what top she wears with which bra (it's quite hot to see her in a tight thin top wearing a sheer bra). We discussed the pros & cons of which jewelry she should get, and she chose the rings because they offer the most 'playability.'

Apparently finding sticking a steel rod through your penis weird makes me an "antagonistic dick" to quote a PM, so I'm out.

Remember, opinions are fine, as long as they go along with the local status quo and don't make anyone uncomfortable ;)

Tends to happen with insular communities, it was a trend I noticed back in the old TFP after a few moderators retired. I'll stick to things I agree with from now on.

I accept it. As a nurse you need to be able to go from transaction to transaction as seamlessly as possible. I love nursing and it will be well worth it to me. I'll just have to slowly cover the parts of my body that don't show while wearing scrubs. :p

You didn't say 'weird' you said 'wrong in the head.' Pardon me "off in the head."

I'd be really interested in one. Oh, yes. On him, on me, whatever.

I talked for a while about getting a VCH. I decided not to as the cost was a bit prohibitive at the time. Maybe someday.

    A girl can dream, right?

Herculite, your input is as valid as anyones. Differences of opinion are what makes TFP a great place for discussions. Your choice of words could've been better, so what, it's not that big of a deal.

I'd like to hear more about your opposition to penis piercings.

My what a boring place this would be if people stuck with what they agreed on.

I'll say it. I think prince alberts are gross. I think they are ugly (its just hanging out the tip of your cock) and between trying to pee in the dark or after sex when that little dried plug of cum is in the way, why would I want any more difficulty trying to pee? And I'm not sitting down. I'm not completely against all piercings. My girlfriend has her nipples pierced. I want to get mine done. She has talked about a clit piercing as well. But to me those have sexual benefits as well.

Regarding visible tattoos and face piercings, I'll make judgment calls as well. If they are willing to get their lips pierced or get neck tattoos then to me their judgment is very questionable. They are obviously saying I don't think like you, I value things differently. I don't want my dr or financial advisor or fellow law enforcement officers showing that judgment. I don't care if its the guy taking my order at mcdonalds.

Wow, I've got a new thread idea. Let's talk about all the kinds of people we don't like and about the ugly things they put on their body. Police uniforms, for one. They're hideous and when I see someone wearing one, I assume they have different values than I do and I don't like them. Yes, this sort of thinking is fabulous and it makes things so much easier considering my limited capacity to accommodate differences in my life. I can see now why it's so attractive to you guys. It makes many decisions much, much easier. Brilliant.

As far as hating police, get in line. Do you have your registered nurse license plate yet to try to get out of tickets? Why do you think all those firefighters have special plate? Because they are projecting an image and want to be seen a certain way. Maybe start a thread on how you dress and what you present to the outside world is a form of communication and what you want to communicate.

I don't hate police. You obviously missed my point. Kind of stung there for a second, though, huh?

Didn't bother me at all. You're a 48 year old woman who is studying to be a nurse. I knew you were trying to make a point. But seriously, I don't hate people. The examples I gave illustrate how I don't want some people making decisions that personally affect me. If some guy is running a cash register with a bull nose ring it doesn't bother me. But I wouldn't want that person to be watching my kids in my house while I'm gone. Or lets say that given a choice of equally qualified people I want the one who presents the image I want to see. Really this deserves its own discussions. Clothes and image presentation.

They might legitimately not think like you or value things the way you do, that's true. But is that difference in values really something that affects someone's competence or character? I wouldn't get face or neck tattoos, but a good part of my reasoning is because I have to exist in a society that makes getting employment with such adornment impractical. I would imagine most doctors, financial advisors, and LEO's wouldn't even if they wanted to for the same reason.

I think it's a sweeping statement to say that because someone gets a certain body decoration that they automatically have a completely different set of values except for the value of being willing to engage in self expression despite the judgement of others. I'd say that that value could be admirable, and the real tragedy is that we live in a society that makes it unemployable.

In the same light, the Army is changing its enlistment standards (again) to rule out neck tattoos in order to protect the "professionalism" of the service. Now I'm all for the professionalism of Army service, and I'm proud to be here. But I find it a little disturbing that neck tattoos were only unprofessional until we needed Soldiers to go fight and die in other countries, and then become unprofessional again when hostilities wind down and we go into force reduction mode.

I'm curious, do the Soldiers who went to war with neck tattoos fall into the fellow law enforcement or McDonald's category?

Well, you know, I have known two murderers and five child molesters in my life and none of them had piercings and only one of them had a tattoo. I'm trying to think of which of the latest celebrity killers wore bizarre clothing or was covered with tattoos and piercings and I can't think of a single one. I think I will stick with making more comprehensively based decisions on the people who I allow to populate my life. Making choices so superficially does two things: 1) gives you a false sense of security and 2) deprives you of the chance to be friends with great people.

I know im kind of harsh on the interwebs, its hard for me to distill my thoughts into a few pithy sentences. Especially in my phone. I just want to reiterate that I dont hate everyone, but people are selling something, including their image. I guess its a good thing i dont have any friends.

I absolutely acknowledge that it's harder. My point was that you seemed to separate people into two groups, with one being worthy of respect (or responsibility and trust) and the other not. My assertion was that people can fall in the middle.

I was called a goth kid in my youth (if emo was a thing then, I wasn't aware of it). Looking back, it may have been partially a combination of rebellion and self-expression. Can't it be both? I rejected one societal norm, and fell in line with another that better suited me. I don't think that many people can exist in a society and completely delegate themselves from soon sort of pressure or desire to fit in somewhere. So in the case of tattoos especially I think there's a big spectrum. Some did show poor judgement at some point (even my tattoo artist who's made his living that way for many years says he sometimes regrets his head tattoos, because people seem to see it as an invitation to come talk to him about it regardless of what he's doing, like at dinner with his family). And I do think that some people make the choice despite societal pressure, and as self-expression, and not just to fit into the"blatantly tattooed" crowd. I just in general don't go in for judging someone's complete character by something as superficial as their tattoos.

If it makes you feel better, I agree with most of your opinions on dick piercings. Ouch, inconvenient, and doesn't appeal to me in the slightest. But the unappealing part I just chalk up to the fact that I think dicks are ugly, regardless of how they're decorated.

PS: please excuse if this post comes out formatted weird, my kindle is having fits with the spacing and I'm too tired to fight with it any more.

I didn't edit it away. This software doesn't agree with my phone. If I type something a short time later it erases the original post. I have lost a lot of thoughts that way. And I agree people fall into a spectrum. Thats why I tried to give some examples of where I might be more leery of certain people having responsibility for actions that may effect me. I didn't try to say it was an all or nothing thing. But it may have come across that way.

It's a good thing that we're not also discussing implants (foreign objects embedded under the skin) and branding  :D . FTR, I find those body mods over the top, but I try not to prejudge folks who go for it.

Some people with highly visible tats, piercings, etc. do have rebellious in-your-face attitudes. Others are basically normal folks who express themselves differently.

In the building where I used to work there was a young woman (late teens/early 20s) who had a 'string' of small butterfly tats going from her cleavage up to her hairline. I didn't know her, don't know why she had the tats, I do that at at least 6' tall she didn't need tats to draw attention to herself.

One trend I see in the hood where we live is latino males shaving their heads and getting elaborate scalp tats.

To answer one of the original questions, I find body piercings on women exciting. Some of the more extreme piercings, such as the heavy gauge rings that stretch the inner labia and multiple nipple piercings, are not a turn on.

Some penis piercings I don't understand, such as a ladder. How does a guy have intercourse, esp. vigorous hard fucking, with that much jewelry in his dick? What about his partner?

I have to admit, I cannot understand either genital piercings or more visible modifications in uncomfortable-looking or unattractive places. That includes large-bore ear holes, eyebrow or lip piercings, tongue piercings, piercings through the middle of the nose, cheek piercings, and suchlike. I also admit that I don't really get excessively large tattoos or multiple tattoos covering a major portion of one's anatomy.

I don't impute evilness or cruelty or anything like that to folks who have such. But I do wonder about psychological issues. Such things involve a considerable amount of voluntary pain, and a degree of risk proportional to the modification, to say nothing of occasional inconvenience of varying levels (one of my friends with nipple piercings has more or less permanently hard nipples now, and finds cold weather painful; and I have heard in other places as well as here about the inconveniences of peeing with a penis piercing, etc.).

Why do this for no reason, or for purely recreational purposes, or just to spice up your sex life a bit. Why not go for removable adornments and sex toys instead? It just seems a bit needlessly masochistic to me.

I admit also, I met a Maori guy with a lot of tribal tattoos, and I saw a guy from somewhere in West Africa who seemed to have some extensive tribal scars, and while I confess they made me wince a bit, I got their significance. These were deep parts of their cultures, holding tremendous historical and spiritual significance in their communities. I can understand that, even appreciate it in some way.

It's the folks who get extensive body modification done without such motivations that I have a hard time understanding. Don't get me wrong, it's a free country, and I totally support the right of adults to do as they like with themselves. But it just continues to strike me as somehow unhealthy.

But all you would have to do to not think them unhealthy is to want them. I think it's unfair to not only place your own personal limitations on someone else but then assume that they're unhealthy even though they express how happy they are with themselves and their bodies. That I don't understand. I'm pretty sure that you have ideas in that head of yours that lots of other people would characterize as unhealthy, maybe even sick. No offense, but most people here do. Ideas are not so different from body modification. They are both an expression of self. You don't have to come from an ancient culture to find meaning in them.
