We've got an entire forum on weapons made up almost entirely of guns.
Unfortunately, I moved from a state where there are no rules on owning and carrying (well almost no rules) to one that makes it ridiculously difficult.
Even before moving here I was a fan of the blunt interment.

Living in a trailer it meant I was less likely to shot through my wall into the next door neighbors and possibly into the trailer past them (hell you can get into a trailer with a box knife if you know how).
My favorites are the basic baseball bat and sais for when things get really ugly.
I have both next to my bed.
My next door neighbor is Indian and plays cricket.
When they had a yard sale I got a cricket bat.
I also have a multipurpose crowbar in the garage.

Those are my tools what are yours?

When I go looking for things that go bump in the night, I bring a 3 D-cell Maglight. Of course, I also bring Molly.

I have an aluminum baton a little over an inch in diameter and just over two feet long under my pillows on my bed.
The baton unscrews in the middle to form a nunchaku.

Well, if you are going to make me use the wrong end of one of them, I'd probably pick the Mosin. It has a nice steel butt plate and hard wood. The Henry has a brass one and is tough walnut, but it is too pretty to dent over someone's head. :p

When I was about 12-13 I had a paper route. There were a couple of very aggressive dogs on the route. One day a Chow broke his chain (looking back it had to be just the clasp or something where it connected, not the chain itself) and came after me. Fortunately my yelling and standing my ground once I got out of his yard kept me from being attacked, but after that my dad grabbed a big framing hammer with a hickory handle, took the head off of it, put a loop at the base to go around my wrist, and gave it to me to keep in my paper bag. Never had to use it, but it would've handed out a nasty thump.

The one I have is a little too thin for my hand, I'd prefer something a bit more substantial, but it can deliver a mean crack. We took in a pit bull mix once, but unfortunately his survival instincts were already in place before he arrived. I had to employ the handle a couple of times. It reached the point where he had to go to the Humane Society.

At this point it has to be a combination of fists, elbows, knees, and feet, as those are what I'm most trained in using to effect. Of course, I'm gradually getting to the point where blunt force trauma would be my last resort when dealing with an attacker. Instead, it would be a matter of immobilizing them and/or causing them to submit under the influence of excruciating pain.

To me, at the moment, swinging a blunt object would be more like rolling the dice than making calculated moves.

I will eventually get to where a baton or cane at the ready will make sense. But until I know how to use one, I don't see the point. The problem with using a weapon untrained is that it may lead you to make stupid mistakes.

I agree. If you're not sure how to use a weapon, even a firearm, use it only as a last resort. Having a weapon taken away from you and used on you is the last thing that you want. I don't rely on blunt instruments.

My favourite blunt instrument is a trombone....

In a genuine home invasion, I'd be far more likely to grab a deodorant and a lighter than an improvised club, but I do know that the brass rails in my bedroom wardrobes lift out with no tools, and are heavy enough to break a wrist, given my build and strength.

Failing that option, I have plenty of bottles of bleach, caustic, drain cleaner and so on around the various bathrooms. Given ten seconds I could scare you, given ten minutes I could be ready to debilitate and disorient you, and incapacitate you while the police come.

Anyone prepared to come towards a fireball is too mental to disarm anyway.

    Favorite blunt weapon? My penis.

It's good for both beating and penetration. Also, it's always on me and they let me carry it onto airplanes and into courtrooms.

To be perfectly honest, I don't really cart these things around like I used to, except for the steel-toe boots (which have become my most comfortable shoes)

Never had had the opportunity to use brass knuckles (only really owned a pair for a short time).
Anybody had a chance handle them IRL?
Do they live up to their rep?

Unfortunately, my hapkido instructor doesn't like training in the use of the nunchaku. However, he does apparently teach it. Honestly, though, I'm more interested in learning the dan bong. It seems way more practical. (Which I think is my instructor's rationale.)

Agreed- even if you didn't have an actual dan bong on hand, you could probably improvise one. On the other hand, a nunchaku is a different story. Besides, I've found that nunchaku are more effective when employed with grappling/entangling techniques as opposed to just trying to smack someone in the head with them. (People don't go down that easily.) ;)

Bottom line: nunchaku take more extensive training to make them effective, but since they're illegal in many places, the dan bong seems to be a better choice anyway.

That's the thing. The dan bong is versatile enough without having the "so much that can go wrong" that the nunchaku has. In hapkido, the dan bong is used for grappling and immobilizing more so than for striking (though striking remains a very likely option).
