Jay, yes, I did see that. Thanks for reminding me so I can go see it again. I think Clarkson said something like that car was the greatest driving experience he ever had...or something like that.

    Btw,
I own a car that I would lust for if I didn't already have it. It's not like a significant Ferrari or Lambo, but I love it for what it is and it is a stupendous vehicle. I used this little comparison in a car forum site...OK, it's tongue-in-cheek but highlights the capabilities of my dumb old Toyota:

I own my dream cars, more or less. I have an '85 VW crew cab Vanagon pickup and a Porsche Speedster kit car.
I just need to spend more money on them to get them into full 'dreamcar' status.

I want to do an engine swap on my truck, looking at a 1.8T.

for 6 years the Speedster was my only car and daily driver. lately I can't find a aircooled VW mechanic that is any good so it's just sitting. sadly.

My 2011 golf TDI is the closest thing to my dreak car. Tons og power and torque for 43mpg on average. It's comfy and can hold a lot of stuff and still feel really sporty.
S has a 2011 370Z with sport and touring package and the only thing I like better than mine (which I should have gone for, but didn't) is the nav package with the zombie-cam.
We sat in a 2011 Vette yesterday and it was so cramped that my knees were hitting the glovebox.
I still wish my dad had his late-60s Chevelle or my mom's Gremlin, cause those things were awesome.

    Hmmm,
Ok a Harley ironhead Sportster with a springer front end 14" apes, hardtail, peanut tank, and king queens seat with a HUGE sissy bar! Not exactly a car but hey, that is what I want.

    Mine is simple enough...
1994/95 Mustang with a 5.0 and 5 Speed transmission. The words "Automatic" and "Ford Mustang" have no business being in the same sentence.
I do have an admittedly strong bias against Automatic transmissions to begin with, but on certain cars it truly has no place.

I don't know what it is about the new Dodge Challenger but it gets me every time. Old lady has one in the driveway so the odds of me ever getting one are pretty slim. Behold!

  17. I'm still in the "mostly interested in practical stuff" stage of my life. I'd like something like some sort of 5-speed with 25-30+MPG and a decent amount of space to haul stuff. Bonus points if it's easy/inexpensive to maintain. Don't really have any particular models in mind.

My Jimmy is great and all, but it's really starting to show it's age, and I'm starting to get very sick of dealing with less than 15MPG. I want it to get me to where I'm going to end up for the next few years, and then from point A to point B until I can afford to replace it with something newer.

This thread calls to mind the VP of Human Relations at my place of employment, a gentleman who is easily 6' 5". He recently traded in a white Chevy Avalanche for...

    ...wait for it...

    ...a Mini Cooper.

    Wait, what?
