    Undocumented doesn't equate to illegal.

Being undocumented: Is it a crime or not? - Immigration Chronicles

Basically entering the country without the proper visa and federal approval is a civil violation of US federal law. Committing a civil violation is not same thing as committing a crime.

What gets to me is Congress thinks the solution is to put more on more Border guards and make deportation easier.

The kids aren't trying to sneak in, the first thing they do when they get across is find a person of authority and turn themselves in because they believe this country is a decent, humane place.

As for the deportations, always nice to know you're sending a kid back to a pretty much certain doom.

Okay, clue me in: What is the generic term for an act that is in violation of civil law? We're all playing word games here and that's what irrationally pisses me off.

Example: Speeding--a petty moving violation in a motor vehicle--is illegal because it is in violation of the law. Though they generally don't incarcerate you for doing six over in a school zone.

Educate me. I'm not suggesting we quarter them and send the parts back... but that what they're doing is disregarding the rules and the way we are playing Orwellian word games with the issue and actors is ridiculous.

This isn't word play or some word game. Simply a matter of fact and the law(s) as they currently exist. And the law, despite multiple attempts to change it by the GOP, has been repeatedly upheld by SCOTUS. Here's a link that might help you understand the differences-

What Is The Difference Between a Civil Offense and a Crime?

Basically you can rant and rave about something, for example your neighbors dog crapping on your lawn. You can claim it's a federal criminal offense. You might even get Fox News to allow you to bitch and moan on air about how awful it is and assert to a national audience that the dog shit on your lawn is a federal crime. However unless your house happens to be the White House or the Naval Observatory in DC there's little chance what you're complaining about is in fact a federal crime.

A small group of congressmen went down to two Central American countries on a "fact finding mission" to assess whether the children are leaving due to danger or for economic reasons. They spent one day in each country. Upon return they announced the vast majority of children were leaving for economic reason and it "just isn't that dangerous." When asked what the neighborhoods were like they stated "never actually saw them, we stayed in the hotel(s) because of security concerned." Ok. Makes sense.

I hate to say this, but P9 does have a point here.

Average Joe doesn't have a clue what the difference between a crime, violation, etc... and they are most likely going to call anything that goes against a law "illegal".

It's very difficult to argue the subtleties of law - especially if they don't seem subtle to you and me.

    Sick children aren't being deported.
Am I supposed to be outraged about this?
These are all preventable diseases that the vast majority of Americans are immunized against.
Thank God they're not sending these kids home. We can give them adequate medical care and they won't die. I'd call that a win for humanity.

What gets to me is how the governors of some states are freaking out when they discover that a few of the kids have been sent to their states to stay temporally.
Here in Alaska it's really bad.
