Woo, finally finished a scene that's been lingering for weeks.

  3. My G-K 1100rb is eight years old but in excellent health. I had it into the shop for a tune up about 6 months ago. My Ashdown practice amp could use a pot cleaning, but doesn't need replacement.

I've been toying with the idea of a nice studio quality amp for my acoustic-electric needs. There's a nice model on the market that has dual channels to handle a vocal accompaniment. I almost pulled the trigger on one last winter.

A few years back I found an interesting bass amp at a pawn shop. They didn't know what they had or they would've priced it much higher. It's an Ampeg B15T with the factory Electro-Voice EVM-15L speaker upgrade, made in the early '90s, a 100 watt solid state version of the old Portaflex flip-top tube amps. FWIW Charles Mingus endorsed this model, which could mean he actually liked them and/or he wanted the endorsement $$. I was going to post a link to the owners manual for the specs, but IIRC I couldn't find them online, had to get the manual & schematics from someone at Talk Bass forum.

Yet another edit--Mingus endorsed the BT15 from the '60s, not the '90s version (esp since Mingus died in '79). Duh, me.

    Boo-yah!!
Figured out something that was stumping me for a while.
But then again...no one else has gotten this far.

I'm not going to explain it...except to say it has to do with DB links and Network Security.
However, the issue which kept showing the same error again & again...I figured out over the weekend that there may be two different scenarios going on.
And I was testing on the more complex one...and the one I'm resolving for now needed a more appropriate test.
As soon as I got in...I figured out what would do the trick...and it worked.

Now that I know that our settings worked...it resolved that level.
And I know what to do to start tackling the more complicated one.

    --------

Even more fun...as a contractor, I don't have the privs to do everything nor do I have all the info.
So I have to get govt staffers' cooperation, time and effort.
I'm solving this in a black box...and with one-hand tied behind my back.
    Wanna challenge??

But at least I'm moving it forward...and they're seeing it.

However, I will say...it was awhile before I felt comfortable putting something up on a shared ticket where all can see it.
Want to know what the hell you're dealing with and talking about.

Guess who's working every possible day this week? This girl. No school tomorrow due to the end of the quarter, but I'm scheduled to go in and teach forestry today (bet you didn't know I could do that, did you?).

Well, I got it working on the next level...yay!!

And now, there is ANOTHER level.
Debating with the powers that be, if this is even needed or not. (or worth it or not)

IMHO, we could likely do it...BUT the question should be asked, "should we?"

Personally...I like a challenge...it would keep me busy.
But I've got other things I'd like to clean up and organize...and introduce them to.

Hard part is getting the time and mind of the one making the decisions ...and explaining it to them in a way to get buy in from their bosses/clients.

And whether the fact that there is another "step" will be a ding against me or not...despite getting it to this point.
Tech is "magic", unrealistic expectations and all that.

I finally got my IE working properly with the help of a very patient AT&T tech services rep named Sunny. I went through the DIY isntructions, but had no luck. His written Enlish was excellent, but he was a bit hard to understand on the phone. No matter, he got me back in business, I just hope that I'm not jinxing myself.

Got everything on my to-do list done: went to the gym, cleaned the apartment from top to bottom, did laundry, baked goodies, distributed goodies, basked in praise. My soul needed a little domesticity today. Now, since everything is done (for the moment), I think I'll go enjoy the lovely weather we're having.

While I didn't get the regular housecleaning done, I did get my office in working order, and I wrote for an hour. Time for happy hour.

    I am now official.
I thought I was official almost a month 4 weeks ago but state government is a fickle mother.
It turned out that because DVR had made me a provisional hire and they had also done that 15 years ago, there were rules where that could only be done once in a lifetime.
Lucky for me, the head of my district and the head of DVR went in and fought for me.
It took weeks but they got a special rule change just for me.
Then it turned out that I had never been entered into the system in all that time so I wasn't getting paid.
A paycheck should be showing up here in a day or two.

So I'm feeling a bit better after being on a meathook for the past couple of weeks.

    I really didn't want to.
