Went to a used book and record store yesterday.
Found two CDs by the Jesus and Mary Chain that are out of print.

My friend got the first Grandmaster Flash album in mint condition.
    A good day overall.

random ringing in the ear=awesome....or not
Probably something to do with the term "significant hearing loss" I heard during my separation physical a few Presidents back. My hearing was "exceptional" when I joined to put that in some context. Ignoring hearing protection on a practical level around whiz bang pumps and other loud machinery probably didn't help any.
and it still hurts a wee bit even now, how interesting.

On a local rock radio station, the DJ named the song just played -- "Don't Stand So Close To Me" by The Police -- and added, "That's not bad advice from the police, these days, hm?"

Whenever my twenty-two-year-old self came across that video, I would always think, "Holy fuck, this song is annoying! But...I...can't...change...the channel.... They're...too...goddamn hot...."

Hey, we have Murder Kroger here. It's seriously been called that for decades because they found a car in the lot that contained a dead woman in the trunk. It say there for days until people began noticing the smell.

I'm a member of a three-person committee which meets usually a couple times a year, and makes certain locally important decisions.

Our meeting today drew a couple dozen audience members.

A sign-language interpreter had been requested, and was provided.

Having my words signed by an interpreter while I speak was a new experience for me.

So as not to get distracted, I avoided looking at the interpreter while I was speaking.

We voted on three issues, and split 2-to-1 on each one. I was the dissenter in all three votes.

I'm about to watch Under the Dome season1 again...
I don't remember it being very good but I was pretty stoned and probably couldn't follow the storyline.

Loved the book, especially how it ends. I am sure they will change the ending on tv to something where more people survive and probably cock up the story in other areas as well.
Now for something theme/holiday based - this delightful parody of "It's A Wonderful Life" from the BBC show A Bit Of Fry And Laurie

My wife got hooked on Under TheDome, so I ended up seeing just about every episode. It's not bad, but you have to be willing to get over many "What? No way!" situations, something which I have a hard time doing.

I found the book in PB for .50, but passed on it. I should've bought it, I like King's non-horror fiction, at least the few books that I've read--The Green Mile, Delores Claiborne (both very good reads), & Blaze.

I'm sure that the scriptwriters have had to go way beyond the book in order to have a season two. I give the writers credit for keeping things interesting, but the "suspension of disbelief" is still very much required.

I have the Green Mile on the original 6 part novella release. I heard it was re-released as an actual book but I am fine with the first editions.

I'm envious, being an amateur antiquer and someone who looks for 1st editions in hardback with the dust jacket.

I have copy of The Shining that has me puzzled. It has no markings, obvious or obscure, to show what edition it is. It's not clearly marked as a 1st ed, a later ed, or as a Book Club ed. I did some research into it, and it doesn't have the "hidden" numbers indicating what edition it is. One of these days I'm going to contact a well-known seller of collectable books to see if they might know.

I'm reading the paperback now. I used to have first edition paperbacks of so many Stephen King novels. Didn't know what I had at the time.

Unless they were initially released only in PB, they have little value as collectable books.

With that said, some early King novels, especially the Bachman novels, were indeed PB only releases.

Kings' popularity actual hinders book collectors. Once he hit it big, his new novels in 1st ed were printed in HUGE numbers, making them very common. I read a post where a guy was thrilled to have a 1st ed of It; I didn't have the heart to tell him the resale value was a few dollars at best. The reprints of his 'once out of print' books hurts the value of the originals, but the originals are still collectable with some value.

Since 99% of my books are purchased at thrift & resale stores, I could at least make my money back if I decided to sell them via eBay. I have a stash of collectable books (1st ed, signed copy, out-of-print, limited edition, etc), but none are in the 'OMG, sell it now!!' category :(.
