What a stupidass play call. I'm still in shock. Run Lynch twice, or try a sneak with Wilson first, then run Lynch.

Oh well, the Seahawks blew it. I need to check the other thread.

There is already a meme out with the little boy who was "dead" in the Nationwide commercial.

He says "I would've run it with Lynch.

    But I died."

    EDIT - Here it is.

that was the craziest fucking ending to a superbowl that i've ever seen.

also, the fearmongering bathtub of doom was pretty messed up. wtf nationwide?

I think the Doritos airplane commercial was my favorite. So simple, yet effective.

Butler's goofy interview afterwards was hilarious. "I had a sudden vision..."
    Sure, hoss.

What did you think of the other commercials? I don't really watch commercials, and avoided all of the times they tried to get me to watch them before today.

The esurance ones with Lohan and Walter White were funny. As was the BMW i3 one and the Bud Light Pacman one, they would be my 2nd and 3rd pick. The Intuit Tea Party and Pizza Hut ones were good too. The first draft ever avocado commercial was the most original. And Pete Rose helped the NFL give a good jab at MLB. Jeep's This Land and Kia's Pierce Brosnan one wasn't bad. Mophie's dead battery apocalypse was good. Wix.com spent a lot of money and is probably the one thing advertised that I will use. Arby's had the best one liner "Join the sandwich hunt. It is a very easy hunt." And you don't want to cross Liam Nelson in the wrong way.

I just hope you didn't just lose a kid from an household accident, lost a puppy that wasn't saved by horses, lost a Dad (although it was a good Nissan commercial), lost your Mom (McDonald's), lost a viagra pill when you needed it, or lost your balls (GoDaddy)... it's the Super Bowl, not 7:00 pm on CNBC.

Super Bowl advertisers 'are on trial' - Feb. 1, 2015

I didn't realize they spend $4.5 million for 30 seconds. I thought it was still $1 million (and that is a crazy amount)...

Here is an explanation of the pass play that actually makes sense.
    At least in theory.
    Not so much in practice.

This is the most persuasive defense of Pete Carroll's decision to throw that pass - Vox

Edit--If it had worked, genius. Since it didn't, idiotic.

I wasn't blown away by any of the SB commercials. The only two that stand out for me were the Snickers commercial featuring the Brady Bunch and actor Danny Trejo (I had to look up his name) and the Doritos airplane ad. My wife liked the Budweiser puppy commercial, which I didn't see.

OK, I just saw it. That makes three that stadn out.

That does show some thought and logic. IMO, you still save that pass play for 3rd down. As much as he says passing there keeps NE honest on 3 & 4th, they are still going to be loading up on the run every down in that situation. I could see a play action or bootleg on 3rd down, but I still don't like that call on 2nd down.

Yes. Especially since chances were pretty good that Lynch would've made 3rd & 4th calls moot.

    Edit--I would've seriously considered a bootleg.

    Hmmmmmm .

I seriously wonder if little johnny actually has addiction issues, or is making a sympathy play. I admit that is harsh, but he wouldn't be the first celebrity to hide in rehab. Of course this could be at the insistance...unofficially...of the Browns.

I think you are most likely correct with the latter part.

If he was doing it for sympathy, I'd think we would've heard of it right when he went in, instead of almost a week later. Just a hunch, who knows.

But I definitely agree with you that the Browns likely encouraged, strongly, this action.

Another detail that could be relevant. The new NFL drug policy lightened the penalty for "non-PED" offenses. So if you are caught with something like weed, you are basically privately told you are on probation and further offenses elevate your punishment. But the first offense is pretty much only a warning. Maybe he got popped for a non-PED drug and this helped raise the pressure for him to get straight.

Actually, My fav was the Mountain Dew Kickstart full version...it just hit me.

It could have been a good play, he looked like he was in the clear, but Butler was just on the ball literally, great timing and effort from behind.

I still would have attempted running the ball at least once, even if everyone expected it.

I agree that the commercials were only so-so.

A few decent ones I haven't heard mentioned:

I thought the eSurance Walter White one was funny. The BMW one with Bryant Gumble and Katie Couric was entertaining just for the ancient clip about the internet, and the Nationwide one with the "invisible" Mindy Kaling was not bad either.

I forgot to add the Invisible Mindy & Matt Damon commercial and the Brady Bunch, Snickers commercial. However, I don't think it was as good as the Betty White one.

Then there are the banned ones, Budweiser's office swear jar and GoDaddy's Puppy Mill.

We didn't get to see the Carl's Jr. ad here, but the girl walking through the farmer's market wasn't too bad.
