Yes, some people change their phones more often I change my underwear (another cliche for @Baraka_Guru). I'm pretty sure that the newer phones have better energy saving technology and better batteries as people folks rely more & more on their phones.

My wife has a charger/battery pack, one of the larger ones for multiple devices, she just doesn't like needing a second gadget in order to use the first gadget. If she/we seriously relied on our cell phones the Prisms would have been traded-in/tossed a long time ago simply because of the very short battery life.

I'll re-read this thread and check into getting her a better phone.

Well, we now have to get my wife a better phone. She dropped her Prism and cracked the screen, and there's no point in getting such an old phone--with really crappy battery life--repaired. Because she has an iPad, her new phone isn't going to be anything fancy.

We're with T-Mobile, and are considerring the LG Optimus L90, or the Samsung Galaxy Light. Any thoughts on either one of those? I might upgrade to the L90 as well.

AT&T is offering some interesting deals on phones with a two year contract, but I can't figure out how bundle a deal using their website (we have them for internet & land line). Maybe we'll visit one of their stores and make someone firgure it out for us.

We're leaning towards the Samsung Galaxy Light over the LG Optimus L90, based on positive on-line reviews and some input from people who have experience with both phones. The problem for me is they're very close in quality & features, with the Light being $40.00 (Amazon) to $70.00 (T-Mobile retail store) more expensive.

Looks like I rented my Moto X for $50 or so. I made the horribly financially irresponsible decision to buy a Nexus 6 since it's interest free for 18 months and the Moto X Verizon Developer Edition that I'm having replaced under warranty goes for $275 on eBay now.

Also, as the owner of a Nexus 6*, my penis is bigger than all of yours combined. Yeah, Android 5 is horribly broken in new and innovative ways and God help you if you have anything but a Nexus 6 and Google or your carrier hasn't pulled the update pending 5.0.2, but it's fucking awesome on the device it was built for as long as you don't mind rebooting it every few days.

A Samsung Galaxy S5 for her, & a HTC One M8 for me.

Switched to AT&T simply because T-Mobile didn't seem particularily interested in keeping us as long-time customers.

I might get quick answers here, since I can't figure it out and haven't been able to find the answer elsewhere.

How do I turn OFF Nararator on my Windows phone? Somehow I started it, and now can't get back to the screen through tools to turn it off. It's literally driving me crazy.

I'd try going to YouTube and typing in 'turn off narrator windows phone' and see what pops up.

I've done everything from fixing my dishwasher to learning all my GoPro's features using YT.

Yeah, YT is a good source for info.

I eventually had to reset the phone to factory settings because Chris The Technologically Challenged managed to--with some 'help' from incompetent customer service reps from AT&T, Windows, & HTC--delete the tools icon totally. I'm good, at least for now. I'm working my way through the manual, settings things with which I'm comfortable, skipping those that confuse me.

It's a cliche, but this smart phone is definately much smarter than me.

Anyone tried the BlackBerry Passport? I received one as a demo the other day and am busy setting it up to try over the weekend. I must say that it's more than a bit unwieldy and I can't see it ever being operated by one hand only. The swipe-enabled keypad is a nice touch, but unless I find some other amazeballs feature over the weekend I can't see myself getting over this pocket-unfriendly form-factor.

I've ordered my wife a Samsung S5 mini to replace the old HTC Desire HD she's using. I'm trying to lure her back to TFP, so I'll install Tapatalk and see if she'll bite.

I don't get the keyboard. If you're going to do a capacitative keyboard anyway why not just do a soft keyboard like everyone else? The draw to hard keyboards to me is tactile feedback. If it doesn't actually press there's no point.

I really want to be friends with Blackberry. I do. I just find it hard to support a company that so consistently goes disastrously wrong.

My S4 recently died a horrible death that is, admittedly, all my own fault. I didn't have a case on it at the time, it fell just so, and bam! Worthless. We opted to purchase a used HTC Thunderbolt for cheap that should be arriving today, as I'm eligible for my upgrade late this spring, just about the time that the Galaxy S6 should be out.

  15. I thought my Thunderbolt was a great phone, though the stock battery wouldn't last a full day, even with minimal to moderate usage. Streaming video or music would really kill it. Keep a charging cable handy! I upgraded because, toward the end, it started slowing down. The 2011 state of the art processor and memory can't really keep up with 2014/2015 IOS and app demands. I hope yours serves you well until your upgrade date. Once you get that new Galaxy, you'll feel like you're driving a Hennessy Venom GT!

The Thunderbolt arrived, but it's likely to be shipped back, as it has a dead strip in the touchscreen.

    Seriously. The smartphone woes continue.

  19. I have been informed that my Thunderbolt is still around and functional...with the bigger HTC battery. I would be happy to pass it on to a good home. Just have to discover where QW stashed it. Don't get too excited until I find.

It'd be great if we could work something out.
