The keyboard on the Passport is definitely the tactile, button-pushy kind, not capacitive (at least the one I've got). What's cool about it is that it's touch-enabled for gestures, so swiping across the keyboard translates into a gesture on the screen - not all apps, however. In theory, it's supposed to keep your fingers in one place and not force you to navigate the rather large landscape that is the Passport in order to switch from one screen to the other in-app.

Just about managed to get it talking to our BES server for mail etc. Let's see how it gets on.

Shipped back the broken Thunderbolt today. I am smartphoneless once more. I feel like a caveman.

  7. Sadly, my search has bore no fruit. I could blame my workweek, the family events or the weather, but frankly, my old phone's not in any of the places QW recalls putting it. I'm not laying blame on her. It likely got pitched out when my son didn't need it last summer.

Sorry, kiddo. I let you down and am ashamed. :(

Ordered a Galaxy Nexus. Insofar as I can tell, the only downside is the nonexpandable memory. Given that I'll only be using it for the next four months, I can live with that.

I've got a G Nex kicking around. If I'd known you'd want it I would've shipped it to you, I have no use for it. I didn't mention it because I figured it was too old.

They're great handsets. Not the most current device out there but if your needs are modest then you'll be very happy with it.

My needs are extremely modest for the next four months. I'm making do until the Galaxy S6. I'm a fangirl and I'm unashamed.

I'd say I want your handset, but mine is going to get here sooner, and I have courtside seats at the Blazers game next weekend that I want to document in detail. Hence, it was worth paying what I paid (which was actually very cheap for Jelly Bean).

My wife has fallen in love with her Galaxy S5, but as a teacher she's around kids who seem to instinctively know how to work a smart phone regardless of make & model, and there's a computer teacher who is a gadget nut who doesn't mind helping her with it.

I'm still struggling with the HTC One M8 Windows phone. Looking up how to use its many features is great, remembering how to use them when I actually need them is something else .

It's been a struggle switching from iphone to android. Do not like.

After buying and using a phone that was running Ice Cream Sandwich, I knew I really wanted Jelly Bean at the minimum. When it turned out that phone had a dead strip in the touchscreen, we returned the Thunderbolt and I went back to EBay, where I found this Samsung Nexus for a good price. Bonus: Jelly Bean as default instead of having to go through the contortions of upgrading the software with custom ROMs.

It was a good choice. I need Jelly Bean. There are just things that I'm used to in this version of Android and its later iterations. Plus, the Nexus comes with the stock version, so there is no bloatware and Google's stuff is very much at the forefront with a little Samsung gloss. It's no S4, but it will certainly do until my S6 is a reality.

Crap, now I'm craving Jelly Beans. The cheap ones, ha ha.
I totally understand, @RedSneaker. I struggled with the change. But, once I got the hang of it and realized I was significantly less hindered by what Apple said I could and could not do, it got easier.
I have an S5 ACTIVE and have dropped it too many times to count and it's fine. I copy things to my external SD card and have tons of music, audio books, and photos with zero issues. I use a lot of open source apps to open pdfs, scan documents, etc. where I had to use less functional proprietary apps before. And, I'm a chrome user anyway, so I can transfer all of my bookmarks from my PC and MacBook to my S5's chrome browser. It gets better!

    Married to a computer guru.
So, I takes mah phone and I save a ton of crap on it so I can make it do what I wants it to do without having to use iTunes or stuff. And, it syncs up the stuff I've looked at on my home and portable computing machines on my phone. I have a powerful hand computer that I can now talk on, too! ;)

That's one of the things I love about the Chrome experience. My Nexus 7, Galaxy Nexus, and computer all sync, so if I'm looking at something on the small screen that needs to be on a big screen, it's an easy matter to leave the tab open and go look on the computer by pulling up Recent Tabs. I too save a lot of bookmarks for work, so it's helpful.

I was rocking a Sony Xperia z ultra Google play edition till I cracked the screen. Massive phone that replaced both a galaxy nexus and a nexus 7. Thankfully Google replaced it but in the meantime I picked up an lg g3 and have become smitten. I miss vanilla but the lg skin isn't that bad. I'm addicted to this friggin ir blaster.
