The police came out, and knocked politely for a couple minutes; when no one responded, they escalated to full-on banging, shining a light in the direction of the upstairs apartment. It took them a few minutes to rouse our neighbor.

That's the third time I've called the police for a noise complaint. That means they're one noise violation from being pegged as a nuisance property by the city. My apartment complex management will not be happy about that. My understanding is that they took the guys upstairs to task last time I had to call the police out.

Don't walk into a place that has 60 beers on tap, act like a beer snob, then order a 'lah goo NI tus' IPA.

It's 'Lah goo NEE tus' you dummy.

While on the subject of TV's, when will someone come up with a remote that is the slightest bit USER FRIENDLY.
The PIECE OF SHIT remote that UVERSE provides is the most awful junk ever designed...one small touch and it does exactly the wrong function.
I'm not saying that I could design a better one, but, there must be engineers/designers, who could make these things easier to use

I'm kind of in love with my Xfinity X1 remote. I can talk to it and tell it what to look for or what channel to change to, which is nice because my television takes a while to turn on.

No, I'm not a shill for Comcast. Their customer service sucks.

Harmony makes some great and easy to use ones. But they are pricey.

I knew somone who used velcro to keep two remotes together. Actually not a bad idea.

We bought an oversized remote with huge buttons for my MIL because she was legally blind. Damn thing is so large & awkward to use you almost need three hands.

I realize that Grouse 'n Diet is not an ideal bedtime drink. But it's delicious and makes me happy. Ugh, first world problems.

Ordered some pants, the same size as I buy in the store... You know, I found that some quality clothing manufacturers actually use the REAL size of the waist to make pants, unlike Target and Walmart's cheepo clothing suppliers. Either I need to lose 10lb or send them back.... More first world problems, I guess.

Comcast is down again. No internet. They expect it to be resolved by two pm. But the are incredible. As in not credible.

Omg, these people are fucking with my head... The viable options for retest are next Thursday from 2 - 6:30pm or wait another 5 days and take it from 8am - 12:30pm.

Anti-semitic attacks have been getting worse around the world in the last few years. It's why ~15,000 Jews are leaving France alone just this year, in addition to the tens of thousands from the rest of Europe.

Things have been getting uglier here in the US as well but it was largely limited to vandalism, the occasional crazy person shooting, and public harassment by BDS/SJP supporters. At least it was until the other day, when two yeshiva students had a molotov cocktail thrown at them in broad daylight in the middle of New York. The only question now is whether that broke the dam here in the states, or whether we've still got a little more time to get ready before the escalation spreads.

And in the meantime the news is still screaming "Zionists murder palestinian" when a terrorist who's just stabbed several people to death and stolen a gun is shot.

Like I said... I wonder if this is what it felt like in 1934

I'd like to take this time to say the 'losers' don't FIND a scapegoat, the 'winners' PROVIDE one, if not many, to shift focus from themselves. It doesn't help that people are so ready to play along...

I get sick of politicians who promise improvements while promising tax cuts, without explaining how they plan to pay for the improvements while reducing tax revenue. FTR, I don't believe that throwing money at problems is always the answer.

We have a mayor's election coming up with no incumbent due to term limits. The scramble is on, and it seems like every candidate is promising tax cuts along with (much needed) street improvements , hiring more police officers, more police patrols, etc.

It would be great if some of the reporters covering politics would actually MAKE the candidates explain how they plan to cut revenue and make improvements. "Once in office I will review expenditures" usually means "I will cut the budgets of programs for people who really need help, and use that money on programs that make it look as though I'm doing a good job."

Why is it every time? Why are her books always sent to me so late that I have to rush them? Her books always ruin at least one of my weekends. Always.
