I'll be shocked if he's in the NFL in any meaningful way after next year.

    :p

He'll almost surely have a couple teams willing to bring him to camp. I think his long term prognosis isn't much different than Johnny's.

Does Andy Reid not undertand the concept of the hurry-up/two-minute offense?

My wife changed the channel when I got back from shopping, and wanted to change it back when we saw it was 31 -0 in the 2nd quarter. I was going to thoroughly trash The Next NFL Dynasty. But I have to give the Seahawks credit for not folding.

Poor decisions/clock management, Andy Reid style, gave the Packers the chances to tie the game. While I don't like whining about calls, that TD catch should've been reversed (perhaps it was a make-up for the PI no-call).

I don't like Patriots, but I'm not liking the Broncos chances against them.

Y'all are being way too quiet in this thread.

    Some thoughts:

Patriots @ Denver. If the Broncos offense doesn't start scoring some points, maybe some touchdowns, the Patriots will be going back to the SB to defend their title. This could even be a blowout win for the Patriots. I'd like to see Manning go out with a SB appearance because I don't think he'll be back, not even as a mentor & back-up ( that would be too distracting).

Arizona @ Carolina. FIIK. The Panthers choked in the 2nd half against "The Next NFL Dynasty." They were fortunate to have a big enough lead to win. Something tells me the Panthers are a team just happened to get into a groove, and even if they advance and win the SB, they won't be able to maintain that groove. I don't know enough about the Cardinals to predict what they might do.

I'd like the Broncos to win, and I'd love to see Peyton finish out his career with a second SB ring. I don't think it is terribly likely, but I'd love to see it.

Part of me would also like to see Roger Goodell have to hand the SB trophy to Kraft, and the SB MVP trophy to Brady, after the acrimonious start they had to this season.

If the Patriots make it to the SB (I can't see the Broncos beating them), I'll be pulling for the NFC team, preferably the Panthers, but the Cardinals will do as long as they beat the Patriots.

Rightly or wrongly, there is a black cloud hanging over the Patriots, which is not entirely because of the cheating accusations. They've become victims of their own success. I'm tired of them, the same as I'm tired of Peyton. Nothing personal or exact, I'm just ready for the Patriots to fade away.

Belichick is a football genius. Some people--more than a few sickly green with envy--question how much of his success is because he cheated. Some are tired of hearing what a genius he is.

Brady is good-looking, young, rich, has a super model wife, and so far has had a brilliant career in the NFL. All of which make him a target. I suspect that a hard-luck QB suffering a career ending injury would garner more sympathy than if it happened to Brady (I mean with fans in general, not the sports media, not Patriots fans).

He deserves it; it would be a fit ending to a spectacular career.

It won't happen unless the Broncos offense wakes up.....and manages to outscore the Patriots.....neither of which appears likely at this point.

I do too and I believe most of America does. He seems like a genuine good guy, hard worker and competitive. I want it to happen for him but I don't believe it will. Looks to me like the PATS vs PANTHERS
The Broncos defense and special teams have the skills to stop and score points, it's the offense that concerns me.

I'm thinking that Manning isn't as healthy as he & the Broncos say, but he's their best chance/choice even if Osweiler is 100% healthy.

I'm happy for Gary Kubiak, although early reports criticized his--and let's not leave out Broncos OC Rick "Teflon" Dennison-- offensive schemes for going against Manning's strengths. And for Wade Phillips, who isn't getting any younger, although I think that his status as a great DC is safe. The Broncos defense won more a few games this season.

So Belichick the genius decides not to to kick the nearly certain FG with 6:00 minutes left and loses by two.

Vegas says Carolina by 3.5 on the early returns. We'll see where it is in 4-5 days.

    Two major factors, IMO:

    1. Turnovers leading to points. The Broncos defense will slow down the Panthers offense. If that includes enough turnovers that lead to Broncos points (see factor 2), the Broncos have a chance to win. If not, the Panthers will slowly but surely put up enough points to win reasonably comfortably.

    2. Peyton Manning. I'm convinced that he has been playing hurt. Perhaps the extra week will off will rejuvenate him (well, as much as possible). If not, the sputtering Broncos offense won't do enough to support the defense.

The Panthers blew a big lead against the Seahawks, played very poorly in the second half, nearly gave the game away. Against the Cardinals they played hard all four quarters, they did not look like an inexperienced PO team.
