I took a walk and tried some night pictures of the Pullman area/WSU campus in late September. Most of them were horrible and not even usable for abstract, but there were a few exceptions. I do want to try again one of these days and bring my tripod to see if it will help any. I would love to try a 50mm f 1/4 lens for this but that will have to wait.
Anywho, I will start this thread off with these morsels:
    0) This in Pullman; part of the paved path that runs throughout a good portion of town
    [IMG]
    1) This is on the WSU campus
    [IMG]
    2) There is an arch not far from this spot just visible in this picture
    [IMG]
    3) Steps leading to a large building on Campus (could not tell you what though)

Great thread ... I look forward to contributing.

Here is my first ... taken near Barnes Bridge across the River Thames about three years ago. Coincidentally, I was in the same spot earlier this evening, and at roughly the same dark time

    That spot looks familiar.

I love the Thames. Your rivers and canals are so lovely. So peaceful and reflective. Unlike most rivers I'm used to here in the states.

    This is a fabulous shot.

    Hi, MeltedMetalGlob ...

These are so big and amazing. What is that ship? Is it a well-known ship, or one which was created for the spectacle?

    :)

    Hi Zen! :)

I wish I had more information to give- I was in Shanghai earlier this year, and that illuminated boat just caught my eye. I'll see if my old lady knows, as Shanghai's her home town.

Walking up the Thames toward Hammersmith. I approached Hammersmith Bridge as it was twilight, crossed it, then walked the journey home on the other bank.

I really wished the wind had kicked up a little more that night. Love this spot though because you get both upper and lower Yosemite Falls into one shot.

A shot that has both a rainbow and stars in it?

That's got to be one of the most awesome things I've ever seen!

    Thanks

It only happens a few months out of the year (after the snow melt starts.) This year lasted a little longer because there was a good snow pack in the higher elevations. The call the effect a moonbow because you use the light of the full moon to get the rainbow. Of course to the naked eye all you see is a silvery shimmer where the rainbow is. It takes a long exposure to see the colors.

For interest that shot was taken just a little after 11pm in June.

That speck of light in the sky may be a planet, but I'm not certain.
