Watches

I typically don't wear a watch. I work with kids and have scratched faces and arms in the past during behavior therapy. I do have a fitbit that tells me the time. Hubs has a fancy watch that he wears when we go out. I can't remember if it's a Tag or an Omega. I think Tag Heuer. And, he wears his apple watch all the time except at Crossfit.

Check any of my pics, you'll see it on my wrist. Lately I don't wear it to work, because the band takes a beating and I don't want to wear it out too soon. I'm finding that these leather bands are getting harder to come by. (Every few years I get a new timepiece which costs less than the band itself.)

I have a battery powered Seiko that is about 25 years old and still going, even though it does seem to go through batteries quicker now days. That could be because the stores that replace the battery are stuck with an overstock of 'old' batteries.

My main watch is a Citizen Eco-Drive that I've had for 14 years. It's dressy enough for business dress, and casual enough not be pretentious. My wife & I bought matching his & hers watches on our 15th wedding anniversary. About five years ago her watch developed a problem and eventually quit working (out of warranty, with the repair cost exceeding the value of the watch, of course!), while mine is still going strong.

Back in March? April? we replaced hers with another Citizen Eco-Drive. It's the black face model that is a basically a copy of the original Movado design. One of these days I'm going to buy one for me, but not to have matching watches, I've liked the Movado design since I first saw one many years ago. I/We can't justify buying a Mavado, even the more affordable model.

I refer to the oversized wristwatches as wristclocks .

 

We had no reservations about buying another Citizen. My wife is rough on watches in the sense of scratching & scuffing, I can see the crystal on her watch needing replacing in a couple of years. She doesn't have a Passion For Fashion, but she did give me dirty look when I suggested that she wear a cheap but durable beater watch to work. On that note when we researched watches we saw that Timex offers some basic watches that look nice and are priced right (if she damages her nice Citizen she might end up with a Timex ).

My nephew-in-law works in a petrochemical plant. He wears the inexpensive plastic digital chronograph watches because he knows that sooner or later the watch will get broken, or be so beat up it'll need to be replaced. And the built-in timers come in handy when they're testing equipment. IIRC he likes the better Timex models because they're more reliable and durable, and affordable.

I've had it for 25 years - still going strong, though it is a little beaten up

 

just cleaned and re battery'ed a Fossil that looked just like this....was my dead son-in -law's...gave it to my granddaughter for x-mas....xoxoxoo

 

Sometimes ya just gotta strap on a big-ass watch. I have several Seikos and G-Shocks for work and a Citizen for dress-up, but for general everyday pimpin', I like my reserve Invictas.

 

I wear this, simple, analog, & black, with a titanium case and sapphire crystal. I tend to destroy watches, I try for ones that are tough

The watch above is 38 mm and looks larger on my wrist than the 48mm one does on yours.

 

I feel naked without something on my wrist. Currently it is a fitbit, but I have a nicer watch that I wear for special occasions. It was a gift for my volunteer work with the NMSS. Nice and worth more than I would be willing to pay myself at the time, but not too extravagant. It's a Tommy Hilfiger, which makes me giggle since it seems like such a 90's brand.

 

I just got an Apple Watch. Really like it so far
