Is anybody watching Braindead on CBS? In brief, a meteorite hits Earth and is retrieved to be studied at an instititute in Washington, D.C. Ant-like bugs escape and start infecting people, including key political leaders, by eating part of their brains.

The show focuses on the utter ridiculousness of partisan politics.

Because BD is a 'summer' series, and it's quirky, and it's not everyone's taste, I'm not sure it's going stay in the CBS line-up.

Sounds fun! This is the first I have heard/read about it.

One thing about 'quirky' TV series is many times they start off really well, but then the writers can't maintain the freshness that makes the series worth watching. Of the few quirky series that actually manage to get high enough ratings to stay in the line-up, most will start faltering after the second season.

We're also enjoying American Gothic, another summer series. Teaser--One of the sex scenes in the episode shown last night was pretty hot; no serious flesh shown because it's network TV, but the panting & heavy breathing was pretty convincing.

Not just CBS, but most broadcast stations. We have been watching PBS more than ever.

We watch a fair amount of PBS. The problem is I tend to find interesting mini-series after I've missed the first episode. The good news is PBS replays just about all of their shows on-line.

I'm guessing that a lot of people with pay TV aren't aware of some of the shows on broadcast TV. I think @Street Pattern would like Braindead for the political content.

I'm going to watch the Republican convention today. Since I will be voting for Mr Trump even more so when he makes an ass of himself.

I'd say something has definitely eaten part of Trump's brain :p.

I've watched it a few times. It has it's moments.

If they would have used radio waves to turn the politicians into zombies, it would have been a realistic answer to what is going on since 2009.

I've watched the first two episodes since this thread informed me of the show's existence. It's apparent to me that the story was inspired by two events of 2013, the Chelyabinsk meteor in February of that year and the federal government shutdown in October. However, it's clearly set in 2016 due to the recent clips of Trump campaign speeches. I'd be interested to learn how well the show's dialogue compares with authentic DC jargon.

I like the series a lot so far and will be watching more. It seems to me as if it were a Michael Crichton story adapted for tv with the hokey cult science-horror style of Dan O'Bannon or John Carpenter also present in SyFy's Helix (whose second season quickly lost my interest, unfortunately).

"@ChrisNoyb we watched it again and Sandy couldn't sleep, she kept feeling something crawling on her and then the following night she cleaned her ears with Hydrogen Peroxide and then slept well. LOL Probably the last time"

My wife doesn't like the bugs-in-the-ear either, and if she had her way we probably wouldn't watch it. But since I put up with her numerous will-turn-your-brain-to-shit programs, I watch Braindead.

A little over a month ago CBS moved Braindead to Sunday night, which is usually a bad sign for a new show, frequently the kiss-of-death. There have been some drops in viewing, but the numbers slowly started improving.

I hope that Braindead is renewed for another season.

I'm happy it is on Sunday night. But, I'm not sure if the story can make it to season 2 and still be interesting.

That's a major problem with quirky TV series, the writers have a hard time keeping it fresh & interesting. And it's even harder to do when the series already stretches 'the suspension of disbelief.'

    I'm already having issues with

    the writers conveniently
not including any intense news media uproar over the exploding heads, and the crazy voting session. Also Red killing the Special Prosecutor, in Red's office of all places, then getting his intern to help dispose of the body.
And yet again I'm having a hard time getting the Edit function to function.

The season finale aired Sunday night; will it end up being the series finale? I can't find any clear answers on the internet, but the very low ratings will most likely cause CBS not to risk a season two.

I wasn't thrilled with how the writers ended season one, namely the we-have-to-provide-one summary of what happens to the principal characters, but to be fair tying up that many loose ends would be difficult for anyone.

My guess is Braindead will be given a second chance, but not by CBS or any network. There's a report--very little info--of a deal with Amazon.

My wife is a TV addict, she'll watch just about anything, including re-re-re-runs of crappy shows that she's already seen. The usual scene: She's on her iPad working jig saw puzzles while the TV is on one of 'her' crappy shows, while I'm read a book. This works as long as we compromise on the TV volume.

I think they ended it well. They may have been able to create 4-6 more episodes. And I'm still not quite sure why the media didn't investigate more, or nobody else thought that people were acting strange.

I just wish they would have ended it with the republicans and democrats fighting as much as ever, even without the bugs.
