    Fagin and Oliver Twist

For everything that changes, it all stays the same.
There's a reason there's story about it...even in jolly ol' England back then.

Here at least they can afford props to fake a disability...but it still happens.
In DC, some of them are undercover for security. Sad that the existence of beggars in a top city are even considered effective decoys.

God knows what goes on in other cities.
There's a reason they call it an "underbelly"

A friend of mine who is Muslim, worked on Rush Holt's staff for many years and is now part of the team for Muslim Outreach to Congress, posted this on Facebook this morning.
She was every bit as horrified and appalled as I am, as we all are.
I don't know why anyone would expect it to be any other way.
This is a great blog post by a friend of hers.

It won't happen until many of the Islamic leaders stop teaching their people the militant mindset and using that to distract them from their own inadequacies as leaders.
Christianity went through the same thing...it's just transitioned to the other side. (at least for the most part, currently...may change back again)

This is not to say all Islamic leaders do this...but enough of them do. (both religious and otherwise)

And it's not religions that are the only culprit, many ideas are used to leverage power and distract the masses from inept & corrupt action, like Communism.
Certain political parties in the US are doing this currently too.

Problem is, it enforces hatred and isolationist/xenophobic mentalities.
    People get hurt.
    Stupid actions occur.

For all those people attacking Muslims because of the attack on Charlie Hedbo, none of them seem to realize one of the people killed was a Muslim police officer.
He died protecting people who made fun of his faith.
He died fighting for free speech.
Ahmed Merabet was the true face of modern Islam.

Back to the worst of the worst...
2000 dead in Nigeria, but no hashtags

Yes, the media is biased...for not putting it out there more.

But I wonder if anything should/could be done by other countries??
There was unity with France, for their tragedy...but they took care of it quick and kicked ass. (at least getting the "bad guys"...not the overall societal issues that relate to it)

I don't believe Nigeria is capable of doing the same for itself...different context, larger volume of "bad guys"
Should other countries assist? Invest money & people?
Is it the same as ISIS?

Sure, it would be "nice"...but do others have the resources?? Or rationale?
    Can we save the world??
    Should we try to?

Or is it just for our allies...and things we're connected to??
This question goes for any country.

Boko Haram is every bit as bad as ISIS if not worse.
They control about as much territory.
They are every bit as brutal, single minded, and down right evil.
And yet, except for brief periods, like when the girls were kidnapped, the world and this country in particular seems to turn a blind eye towards them.

Part of it is Boko Haram doesn't have the same social media presence.
But the main reasons are, of course, oil and racism.

I find it interesting that the USA, and most leading industrialized and "civilized" nations, got to where they are (were in the case of the USA?) by exploiting natural resources, workers, and let's not forget child labor. Why do we get upset when other "lesser" countries tell us to fuck off when we tell them not to deplete their natural resouces, not kill off rare species of animals, not to exploit their people, not to use child labor, etc?

And here I thought this thread would rear it's ugly head again because of the Orlando massacre.

But there's even more worst of the worst out there than that.

    Humans, aren't we wonderful?? :(

    Yeah...
I was kinda shocked that this hasn't hit the mainstream American news. I'm left wondering when Mexico will have a revolution.

One news report I heard said the shooter at Pulse had frequented the club for a couple of years.

I always say...don't try to explain the crazy.
It's not supposed to make sense.
    Don't try to reason it.
    Don't try to rationalize it.
It's just very messed up people...who often do messed up things.

    Broken.
    Unfortunately, broken things can harm.

It's a full-on crisis, a humanitarian disaster. And I'm afraid world leaders don't want to do anything because of Russia.
