Immediately thought of POTUS 2017. The depth of our desire to be entertained is infinite.

Made it to my partner's apartment for the night. Will be very grateful for their company after a relatively cruddy day.

I love the fact, that we are seeing more and more science fact movies...

The Martian (yes, it's the future and fiction...but the science is basically dead-on)
The Imitation Game (encryption and computers...I'm in encryption...yeah, I know I'm weird...deal with it)
Hidden Figures (a movie about MATH...and so inspiring too)

Comics, Science-Fact, Epic Fantasy...the world and Hollywood is slowly catching up with me. (and thousands of other geek/nerds who were considered "peculiar" in school)
Now if they can just put out a decent D&D movie...

Dude, I watch the ba-jeeeeezus out of The Imitation Game. I think Cumberbatch does a great job of tapping the introversion and snobbiness that I think Turing would have exhibited in his day.

I feel no shame in admitting that I rewatch it once every couple of months or so.

No shame at all. Welcome to the board. Enjoy.
BTW...noted your avatar...and my sister dated The Rock/Dwayne Johnson...when he was 12 (she 11)...had a wrist locket with his name and everything. Then dumped her for a "older woman" (14?) who put out. Strange world...

Anyway, back to science, of which I'm a fan and participant. You may like the "Adult Science Jokes" thread, which has quite a few yucks.
Hope to see ya around a lot more.

Yeah, not entirely unsurprising. From what I understand he was very much a "jock" in high school, which comes with its own set of stereotypes that he tended to fit mostly to a T. But then again, I wasn't there, and I don't know anyone personally that was, so 'from what I understand' should be taken with a generous heap of salt.

Yup! Been exploring over the past couple of days. Noticing some things are different - most notably, Happy Posting Bot didn't welcome me to the space, and looking at his profile page he's been MIA since October. Did he rust his pants and need to go in for repairs, or...?

    .............................

Woke up early this morning after getting all of about an hour of sleep, and yet somehow I'm strangely awake.

Gonna have to hit the mate hard this morning and just pound out some bigger items on my to-do list before the inevitable crash.

He was shelved for a bit. New registrations are pretty low and once I upgraded sometime in November, the mod that welcomed everyone broke. So he sat idle for bit. He's now back to welcoming folks :) and doing other things behind the scenes.

Went to court today for my annual review in regards to having custody of my grandson. All went well and another year was the prescription. The judge was kind but gave no time to my son, and knows now that Jr's mom is in prison. Keep up the good work grandpa and file this only a hundred.

Went to Churches Chicken Buffet this afternoon. The Asian woman behind the counter, obviously a manager or even owner, was wearing a pair of skin tight bright yellow pants, an extremely sheer tan top, & a turquoise bra that exposed pretty much all of the top half of her breasts. She had the body for the clothes, but at work?

    Yes, I enjoyed the view.

A co-worker hobbled into a lunch meeting on crutches today. We postponed the meeting from Monday because she has been out the last two days. This soft-spoken, mother of two was injured in the DC Rollergirls roller derby boot camp she has been attending the last two weeks!

I hope that she was in shape and knew what to expect.

Being a boxing fan, a news report (going back quite a ways) caught my attention: A woman got killed in the boxing ring. She & her hubby thought it would be fun for her to enter an "open ring" boxing match at a bar. She was overweight and didn't know squat about boxing. Her opponent took it very seriously and beat the life out of her. Part of me says that was a really stupid thing for her to do (it was), part of me hopes the bar owner got sued for hosting such a stupid event.

Taking part in a Kendo tournament this weekend. Individual matches on Saturday and team matches on Sunday.

I haven't done an individual match in about 12 years. I am a bit nervous.

Most of the other participants are about 20+ years younger than I am.
