    No so anonymous.
I read a couple of the former staffers now despite only being vaguely aware of them when they worked for the White House.

In this era of "fake news" it is super-easy to utilize this cache of expertise.
"...perhaps the most important factor here is technology...“This is really the first time in history where you have a huge cadre of former staff who can all broadcast their thoughts whenever they have them and fact check the current administration in real time...”

I really don't know what the fuck they're waiting for.
I guess it's party before nation now.
Because if the Dems even had the smell of playing footsie with the Russians or another enemy...the GOP would be raging and paranoid as all get out.

But no, since it's their guy...there's a lot of them that are giving it a pass, the benefit of the doubt, ignoring it, playing ignorance, dragging their feet or just being in denial.
And I'm glad at least "some" GOP'rs are actually clamoring for drilling down more and asking questions.

As far as I'm concerned, these are representatives. (not playing politics)
I don't care if you're Dem, GOP or whatever...your job is to "represent" us...the citizens and the nation.
NOT to spin, not to gain votes, not to get pork, not to gain for your party, not to get for yourself.
Sure...it happens, I'm not naive...but this takes all a backseat to DOING YOUR JOB.
Your JOB is to do the best for the public...for the nation.

    Not OTHER nations...duh.

Sure, Nixon's administration had the first aides go to jail for crimes
    I wonder if we'll have a first...in being traitors???

    That would be different.
Most traitors are on the outside of the administration...just normal bureaucrats and such.

I don't know if you want this to be a precedent (BTW...that's not president...hint, hint)

I need to learn how to be a citizen.
I live in Arizona District 1 which currently has a Democrat congressman.
One of the 23 GOP reps who voted along party lines to not request Trump's tax returns from the Treasury represents an adjacent district so I hesitated to call. Since I don't live there would my call matter, beyond taking up the time of the office staff (which is not why I'm calling)?

I am being home-schooled in a crash course in American politics. My head is spinning.

I think it is more agenda before politics, although the VP Pence and Paul Ryan agenda is what most of the conservatives want (abortion shut down, health insurance for white middle class workers, tax breaks for wealthy business owners and trust fund kids). It is the hard core conservatives who are going after immigration, environmental policies, and gun issues.

I would think it would be much easier to cross the border into Canada. Maybe not with kids and lots of luggage, and taking taxis, but I have to think most people can get across that border pretty easily.

Certainly easier to cross that border now than it was back in the 1840's.

Still, I'm not so sure it would be a "cinch" to cross that border for people on foot, in winter with a wind chill of -33C. It all depends on when (or if) Trump decides to hunt the illegal immigrants down and root them out, and how desperate the people become. This has the potential of getting really nasty. :(

I'm waiting to May to go to Canada. Probably the legal way at a border crossing though.

Check out the number of grassroots "Indivisible" groups around the country. More than 4,500 local groups have signed up to resist the Trump agenda.

    Act Locally

If you connect with one of these groups, share your experience here!

The left is so divided it's not even funny. And they are just adding more groups into the mix instead of merging them and working together. Yes, there might be more outward action coming from the left now that the DNC isn't in control anymore and there is a clear target and clear agenda to object to. But, it doesn't fix the rift between the corporate Democrats and the Progressive Democrats and what policies they will agree to to compete against Trump (or Pence) in 2020. And with Trump starting the campaign for re-election on Friday (should i make the 2020 election thread already? I made it last time once Cruz was the first to announce), I'm not sure who will be able to step up and lead the Democratic party and compete against Trump. Even if he doesn't run in 2020, I would like to see Bernie hold a rally and get 50,000 people to show up...
