I bought a lodge cast iron pan the other day. Put a thin coat of oil on to season it and heated it up. The next day I marinated some flank steak and cooked it on a nice high heat. The steak came out great, but it's very low fat and the marinade stuck badly to surface. So I realized I did not season it enough and use oil to cook on. So after cleaning it a lot, and trying to reseason it, I got annoyed with the pebbled surface. The surface was nothing like the Dutch ovens I used in the boy scouts growing up. Those dutch ovens had very smooth cooking surfaces. So I did some reading. I ended up sanding the pan by hand for about 20-25 minutes using several squares of 80 grit sandpaper. As you can see, the surface is much smoother. There is still some pitting, but the surface is not pebbly anymore. It should make the pan much easier to clean and maintain.

MIC copy? The design looks like a cross between Husqvarna and Dolmar. Run two-cycle oil at 40:1--fully synthetic is best, but good quality dino oil works just fine IME)--along with Sta-Bil marine formula and it should hold up, mechanically. If you're in area where you can ethanol-free gas, you can use regular Sta-Bil, or skip it if you go through your two-cycle mix fairly quickly.

I got my Makita (they've owned Dolmar for quite a while now) 6421 for $230.00 out the door at a pawn shop. It's nearly new, was a rental saw from Home Depot. I run pump gas, 87 90/10, with regular Sta-Bil , & Echo synthetic blend oil.

Chris you certainly know your chain saws. This one is 25:1 synthetic and no ethanol. After reading the operating manual and starting instructions, oddly I don't have to prime it to start. It also has a quick start mechanism, and reccomends standard 10w-30 motor oil for chain lube. 5w-20 in ice and cold weather.

Love this new gadget. Not that I microwave grilled cheese sandwiches (or eat anything fried anymore) but heating up leftovers crispy is awesome.

I had to look it up, a very small (pic makes it look big) dig cam, in its waterproof case. With the mounting hardware.

It's a cheap Chinese knock-off GoPro action camera. Don't be fooled this one justifies buying GoPro.

Thanks! I wanted to say which camera it was a copy of, but couldn't remember GoPro. IIRC they're popular for action filming.

Use the cheapie for action filming where crashing & burning is a very real possibility  :p?
