I added a bloop of Tide to my clothes this last load to make it smell good. Apparently, the machine didn't get it rinsed out well enough. I basically have a chemical burn and welts on the back side of one arm and shoulder. That's the end of that. Currently staring at my closet trying to figure out a.) what else was on the top of that load and b.) what i can wear without crying. Tide is fearsome stuff. :/

The whole area is weeping and peeling. I wore a tank top and a thin, soft wrap... Froze my butt off. I have to remind myself that Tide is what people use to scrub their driveways. So having it up against my skin for 10 hours is a really bad idea.

I was gifted a bar of JR Watkins Peppermint Castile Soap for Christmas, and it's pretty rad.

I'm getting to the end of my Aussie 7N1 shampoo bottle, so I'll probably switch it up soon. Despite using Aussie conditioner (3 minute miracle) for over a decade now, I still switch to a different shampoo every other bottle. I absolutely adore the way Biolage smells, but I can't bring myself to pay 20 bucks for shampoo. I usually rotate between Aussie, Pantene, and Organix (mmm, coconut...)

I was just thinking the other day, the nicest my hair looked and felt was when I was using liquid castile soap as a shampoo, and apple cider vinegar as a conditioning rinse. I was a total greaseball for a few days, but after that, I felt like I had shampoo-commercial hair. One of the two (I haven't really researched which one) totally stripped all the color out of my hair, though, so I eventually went back to "normal" shampoo.

I can't stand to go more than a couple of days without washing my hair.

Sometimes when loading the dryer we find articles of clothing that are twisted & wadded. Yep, most times they're full of laundry detergent that didn't rinse out. Not good, esp. for underwear . Note--Early in our marriage my wife would overstuff the washing machine (and end up re-doing the load as two additional loads), and now I'm guilty of it at the laundromat.

**Why the laundromat, Chris?** We have foundation problems, that cause plumbing problems, that cause problems with the washing machine drain, that causes other outflow problems.

I can't either. It was the transition from shampoo to castile soap that made my hair greasier. Something about product buildup from the shampoo, and the soap stripping that. Once I got past that, my hair was awesome, and I could go a day or two without washing it.

Also, I did a little research, and it was the soap that stripped the color away. If it wasn't for that (and also the fact that I work in a restaurant again), I'd totally start washing my hair with castile soap again.

  10. Currently we use Mrs. Meyer hand soap at all our sinks and even use the brand as our dish soap and other cleaning products.

In the shower... I can't remember the name of the soap. I know it's in a purple bottle and I can only get it at the co-op. The same brand is used for ToddlerSquirrel's baby shampoo/body wash.

They were working on the hot water and shut it off mid-load last week. Cold still worked, but it disrupted the flow. Not sure what happened, but the burn is still really annoying. You can't do bigger than medium loads, so i know i didn't over stuff.

  13. I don't shower every day for a lot of the same reasons. I would get so itchy and dry. I started off with just not washing my hair every day. Then I stopped with the soap and just hosed down. I would still be itchy. Now I tend to take a shower every other day and that seems to have helped. I consume less resources and I don't itch. No one has said I smell. They're probably just being polite.

I do take care of my undercarriage though.

I'm still washing my hair every 3 days or so in winter, trying not to wash away the oil so as to keep it from being dry. I'm still a bit worried about smelling, so I'm enthusiastically exfoliating whenever I shower.

I think that using plenty of good hot water allows me to use less soap. Hot water dissolves/washes away oil and salt from perspiration. Plus, I use bar soap (Kirk's Castile) and a bar lasts a long time so I think I use less that way than using body wash or gel.

I love Kirk's! I used to use it. Can't anymore. Also, hot water opens pores, and dries skin. It opens my skin up to react with everything in the air and I end up covered in hives. Lukewarm showers are my favorite.

I don't have a preference on soap, but we do have bottles of body wash in the shower. I use an anti-dandruff shampoo and a baby formula soap (less scent).

I don't use a lot of soap, and only when I am especially muddy from a ride do I lather head to toe.

I have been considering going soap free for some time now. I hear good things.

I've had my mouth washed out with Irish Spring once, you never forget the taste. lol. Still smells fine, but we don't buy it.
For body the teen and I use Yes to Coconut bar soap, we both love it!
For our hair my daughter and I use Shampoo bars from Lush. :) They are inexpensive, the lather is so luxurious washing my hair has become a decadent pleasure! We just choose according to mood and either go into Portland to buy them or just order from the website. We keep them in the little tins they sell so the bars are always dry and ready to go if traveling.
The fellows use Old Spice body wash in some manly fragrance...lol can't recall which one.
We still use softsoap refills for hand soap but prefer to buy natural we just had a lot of company in a short time and the refills made more sense.
Just changing laundry detergent and dish detergent to some we found at Costco that are leaping bunny certified (not tested on animals). Cannot recall names, but will check when I'm out there.

I just got back from a road trip. I snagged eight little bars of Paul Mitchell soap from the Marriott family hotels we stayed in. I like Paul Mitchell, and the price was right.

Body... Dove body wash; Irish Spring/Dove/Lever/nondescript bar soap as a backup.
I used to be one of those weird (according to some) people that exclusively uses bar soap in the shower. I didn't have a problem with body wash, just the method of delivery. I've never been a washcloth person—not enough suds for my taste. I don't like plastic shower poufs because I find them ridiculously wasteful. Natural loofahs are an improvement once they soften up and get to be a little less abrasive—which I don't really mind—but at a certain point they either disintegrate or turn into their own biome. A few weeks ago I invested in one of those hand held silicone body scrubbers, and I freakin' love it: thorough but not too harsh/rough, generous with lather, and reusable/sustainable = winning.

Hands... the pandemic has me washing my hands constantly. My go-to is usually whatever liquid hand soap variant has a large refill bottle in stock at the store. Lucky for us, girlfriend's mom has a habit of sending us a variety pack of half a dozen Bath and Body Works scented foaming hand soaps ever month or so. Not only are we never in short supply, we have no place to put the latest batch that arrived today.

Hair... Digging some cheap Suave men's shampoo+conditioner at the moment. Keeping my hair buzzed means I don't need to be all that picky when it comes to shampoo, and I like how this stuff smells.

Face... Aveeno Positively Radiant Skin Brightening Daily Scrub. I"m also a fan of Noxzema and that St. Ives Apricot scrub with walnut shells as an exfoliant. I like me some grit in the face wash where I can get it.

Dishes... Garden variety Dawn dish soap

Clothing... Generally Tide. I recently took a few years to go through one of those family sized Costco containers while living single. I considered that an achievement.
