NBA Playoff thread

This year we didn't have an NBA thread, but maybe we have enough people interested in the playoffs to generate some discussion?

As a Bulls fan, my hopes are very low. They weren't consistent, or very good, this year. The coaching and front office are awful, though I love Jimmy Butler and appreciate Dwayne Wade coming home to Chicago. They kind of fell into the last spot in the playoffs.

I grabbed some pretty good seats for one of the home playoff games against the Celtics (second row under the basket), but I have very low expectations.

Right now I predict another Cleveland - Golden State final, and hope that the Warriors take it all. We'll see if that opinion changes as the rounds progress.

    What is your team?
What are your expectations for them?
Who do you think will win it all?

About a week ago I saw the Rockets record, didn't think they would be in the playoffs. Duh me, I forgot just how many teams make the NBA playoffs.

The expert opinions have them winning the series against the Thunder. I have no idea.

Four games yesterday. Two close, one decisive, and......the Spurs stomped the Grizzlies.

The local sportscasters are making a lot of noise re Harden versus Westbrook for MVP. If the Rockets win the series convincingly, with Harden outplaying Westbrook, and they make it far into the POs, the nod could go to Harden.

The MVP votes are cast before the playoffs, FYI.

Though I think Harden would win it most years with play like his, I think the triple double average of Westbrook will get him the trophy.

But this year they are delaying the announcement until after the Finals I believe.

Ahh. I thought the voting took place after the POs.

Well, the Bulls stole home court advantage by getting a win on the road last night. I feel bad for Isaiah Thomas, what a tragedy.

    The Rockets kicked ass.

    Did Thomas get injured?

Edit--I hadn't heard about his sister.

Why haven't we been calling the Memphis v. San Antonio the Soda Series?

    Coach Pop(ovich) against Coach Fiz(dale).

    :p

    Don't quit your day job.

We need a better cool front, my only Rockets shirt is long sleeved.

    The Bulls are up 2-0.

I just hope that the 337, 265, 129 guys who used to wear their #23 gear all the time don't start again :D.

The Rockets wanted to keep the close for the hometown fans :D.

Watched most of that game, it was a fun one. Went to bed in the 3Q of the Warriors game, but it was over by then.

Unfortunately the Bulls didn't play well at all. Pretty sure Boston will come back from the 0-2 start to win.

Wizards up 2-1 over the Hawks and have yet to play a complete game, other than Wall and Beal (the best back court in the East). Game four tomorrow night in Atlanta.

    Winner takes on Bulls-Celtics winner.

Either the Thunder gave away game four, or the Rockets had the more determined team overall; it depends on your perspective.
I won't say anything (else) to jinx the Rockets.

I will laugh if the mighty Spurs end up losing to the series to the lowly Grizzlies. But I'm not holding my breath.

The Rockets definitely should be fine finishing out OKC. I would take Westbrook over Harden (barely, but without hesitation) if I were starting a team, but Houston's roster overwhelming makes up for that slight difference in superstars.

Did I hear correctly that the Rockets are opening the doors early for the next game AND selling $1 beers (and hot dogs, sodas, and nachos)? Sounds like a recipe for a rowdy home crowd.....and maybe a nasty one.

I haven't heard anything about the $1.00 specials, didn't find anything with some quick net searches.

The comment I saw was on Reddit yesterday, it was just a screenshot of a tweet.

Here is an article covering it:
Rockets will offer fans $1 beer for Game 5 vs. OKC
