So far it has only been episodes that have officially hit HBO and fan theory stuff.

Something was bugging me and I just went back and checked this clip of Bran's vision of the Night King from a couple episodes ago.

Check out where the Night King is standing at the end of the clip. Jon Snow's D&D excursion was doomed, and the target was always a dragon. My bet is that he needs the dragon to help bring down the wall.

He could have kill the entire party using spears from the shore... why didn't he? Because they were bait.

It was still painfully telegraphed though, as well as completely ignoring the effects of travel time and the areas Dany would have to have flown over. This is what I was talking about earlier. The show's moving further and further away from the brutal if fantastic realism of the GoT universe and starting to be more and more like a typical summer blockbuster. Giant ridiculous warhammers, people surviving wounds they should have died from in very short order, people forgetting how to fight or having hollywood badguys that conveniently attack one at a time. It's stuff like Tormund being completely unharmed despite getting swarmed by zombies while everyone else gets ripped apart in seconds that just kill the show.

Yes everything is feeling rushed now. The show wasted too much time on Dorne, Riverrun, the Last Harpies and various other plot lines which had minimal impact on the story.

Definitely agree it made no sense how all those zombies had Tormund and not a single one stabbed him whereas poor old Jojen Reed gets shanked by a lone skeleton back in season 4.

And wtf was up with Thoros of Myr's death ?? He just dies overnight from the zombie polar bear wounds and hypothermia ? Seriously? They should have just killed him right when he was fighting the polar bear. It would have been more heroic.

Thoros' death was the one thing that actually didn't seem like it was written by a mixture of tumblr grlpowwwrrr bloggers and reddit theorists. It's perfectly in the oldschool brutally realistic GoT's wheelhouse for a character to get injured and survive just long enough to die of exposure and their wounds. But pretty much everything else from all the characters suddenly taking turns holding the idiot ball to the ridiculously telegraphed zombie dragon is just going down the road of clicheville.

And where the hell is ghost?

You know what? ...I just like it.
How long do you want them to draw this out? Millennia? The whole centuries long winter?
Sometimes things just happen fast in history.

    The long build up...then bam.
    Winter is here.
    Ready or not.

    One more point...
    Just because "he" is dead
How many plots of his are still alive???

If the dead can't swim... how did they attach those big chains to the dragon at the bottom of the lake ?

Ah, screw it. I'm just going to rewatch Little Finger's trial over and over again with glee.

The Night King probably just chained/roped some undead and order them into the ice hole.
They don't have to swim, just grab onto the right dragon parts sticking out.
They don't need to breathe, just keep moving.
And he doesn't care if they get back out.

    Sure. Good enough.

I actually thought the zombie dragon might breath ice instead of fire and the night king was going to freeze the sea to the east of the wall and just have the dead march around it.

You know, I was thinking about how Benjen Stark sacrificed himself to save Jon. Of course it seemed noble, but I'm not sure it was necessary. When you think back to season 6, he used that same horse to save himself, Bran, and Meera Reed. So 3 people rode on that horse fast enough to outrun the zombies. I'm pretty sure him and Jon on the horse would have been fine. Oh well.

Actually there was an article on this
Saying that Benjen did it on purpose to distract and delay
But also Benjen may have some type of power to prevent converting to a wight and come back to life.

    There's a reason he's stayed up North
    And survived
And never returned to the Wall

And he was there prepared for the event with Snow
    For a purpose and reason...

    What, I have no idea

But it would explain the scene better
And the randomness of appearing out of nowhere
Much less the willingness to dive into a horde of eights

To be honest, I think the simplest explanation is that they just needed to get rid of another character like they did with Thoros of Myr. Not many episodes left.

The simplest explanation is bad writing.

I try to give them the benefit of the doubt
    And not be that cynical

I mean, they're doing pretty good so far...
At least, that's what the volume of people watching says.
