We are up to 4 remotes on the TV.... I wish there was a SIMPLE easy to program way to get to ONE remote
And another thing....why in HELL don't the buttons light up, how do you find which button is which in the dark...I guess I'm just retarded...always hitting the button that requires turning on the room light and restarting the program because it......went away..........

I had a remote that lit up in my bedroom for when I watched tv in the dark. It got to be too annoying, so I got a basic unlit one and memorized the buttons.

I agree about the too many remotes statement. Even just using the satellite remote and the tv remote for adjusting the tv ratio, etc., is one too many remotes.

Logitech makes some really good programmable universal remotes. My favorite is actually one that is 10-12 years old and discontinued now, the Harmony 880. It is so easy to use and popular that it has actually went UP in price since it stopped being produced. People refurbish them and sell them.

We have one for our living room and one for our bedroom. You plug the remote into your computer. Then you tell it the exact make and model of every device you want it to control, include TV, cable/satellite box, audio receiver, BluRay player, even things like ceiling fans. Then you tell it what activities you want it to control. The light up screen displays those activities. So next to where the screen says "Watch TV", if you hit that button it turns on the TV, selects the correct TV input, turns on the DirecTV receiver, turns on the surround sound system, selects the correct channel input on the audio receiver, and that one button completes all the individual tasks needed to have you watching TV. Same with "Watch Movie" or "Listen to Music", etc. It has all the standard buttons you'd expect, like volume, channel, numbers, menu, etc., then the light up screen at the top has all the custom buttons that task may require. For instance, DirecTV has color buttons for some tasks, like red, green, blue, etc., so the light up screen has those buttons.

Though I'm not as familiar with their newer models, I'm sure many of them can do the same. It takes a marginal amount of technical know-how (easy directions are available online), then the actual use of the remote is extremely simple. Might be worth checking out some mid-range end universal remotes to solve your problem.

We have two for each TV in the house, including a Harmony remote for one of them, but the Harmony doesn't operate the SmartTV functions on that particular TV.

What I hate much more than the quantity of remotes is the shape of the damn things. I want a flat fucking remote that sits flat on the fucking table. Instead, they use some kind of alien ergonomic design, and they all look like leaping dolphins. They're supposed to be guaranteed to fit my hand better, but all they're really guaranteed to do is roll off the table onto the floor.

Who in the hell is using a TV remote control so damn much that they need an ergonomic design? Good God. Were people really getting arthritis from flat remotes?

The whole business of remotes for each device requiring an advanced degree in electronics is frustrating as hell
Take all this F ing CRAP BACK, between that and screens that come up that you can't get off I've started reading books again......
AND, anyway I stopped watching COMMERCIAL TV years ago, too many pharma, car ads and washed up actors selling gold........
I am really close to taking all that shit out and dumping it in the trash, and setting it on fire...........
(And that is how I REALLY feel about it)
AND another thing....those I am NOT ONE BIT INTERESTED IN THOSE HAIR HEAD MORONS "OPINIONS" S.T.F.U

OK, I was not going to reply, but since this came up again....what the hell happens all of a sudden when you turn the TV back on and you get a screen that will not respond?
I've tried everything, next is to unplug (reboot?), I'll wait for Mrs. DAKA, she has infinitely more patience with these thing....I'd probably just throw a shoe at it...

I have smart tv's and simple requirements, so they both use only the remote that came with them (Samsung). My cell can stand in, in a pinch (also Samsung), but there is no substitute for success, so I stick with the stock smart remotes.

I HATE when something goes wrong with the screen/tv/whatever....we live on the Intracoastal...there are tools and things in the water behind the house....
one day when Mrs.Daka isn't home the TVs the remotes and all the boxes may end up in the canal.....
I have begun to hate TV, especially the "commercial" channels....I only watch Netflix and Prime....and sometimes it screws up, hopefully "she"can hear me cursing and come to the rescue....otherwise.....splash...meanwhile the dog takes off wanting no part of this....
