Favorite Restauarant

I haven't found a favourite one yet. I like the American "free steak" kind of thing, but I would probably need a bigger stomach. Asian stuff is good aswell. I could see myself somewhere in a Burmese village, eating endangerd species of animals with refined age old recipes. Some Austrian lamb chops after a day of skiing never hurt me. And yet, the grass isn't always greener, but my parents are divorced and they both do excellent cooking, so I couldn't choose one there either. Food was usually a good thing in my life.

It's easier saying which one is worst. That would be any plane I ever flew with. Usually SAS.

 

Favorite restaurant is kind of like favorite music, book or movie.
It is going to depend on my mood, taste or need.

But the one that I go to most often because it is part of my Sunday record hunting jaunt with my friend the Master of The Needle Drop is The Spenard Roadhouse.
Set in the wilds of Spenard, a suburb of Anchorage, that used to be famous for massage parlous and bars where you could shot but has now been gentrified to no end, named after Joe Spenard a local bon vivant and socialist, the Spenard Roadhouse is housed in an old Sizzler Steakhouse building that has been at least a half dozen other restaurants over the years.
Side note: one of the other Sizzler restaurant buildings has been turned into the largest sex toy store in Alaska. We recycle really well up here.
The Spenard Roadhouse has a monthly bacon specialty, this months is; ROASTED PORK BELLY, chinese five spice, hoisin, lo mein noodle salad, sesame ginger dressing.
Their whiskey selection is out of this world and they make their own flavored vodkas (which is where I get my cranberry vodka).
For Brunch the cinnamon french toast with bacon brittle and caramel sauce is amazing.

Absolutely your right not to be impressed with my choice in restaurant but I didn't understand your first sentence.

Maybe something I said wasn't clear.

 

Things have been said to me in a very clear way. I just don't agree with them. I also put things precisely how I meant them. I "might" avoid Spenard house in Alaska. Probably though, I will.

 

I'm not going for dolls either. Or raccoons dressed as squirrels. But I might visit spenard's if I ever ended up in Alaska.

This is where we are going for my birthday next month:

It's a grand old hotel from the 1800's, renovated, with an amazing restaurant.
The freshest seafood ever, which is no easy feat in a small town in upstate NY.
Plus the owners are two stand up guys who are helping to resuscitate a village that was down in the dumps and is now becoming a tourist draw.
This is where the Beekman boys are located as well, if you know them from TV.

 

I have many favorites depending on the occasion and type of cuisine.

Lately, for a "traditional" American cuisine for lunch or dinner, Founding Farmers is a favorite.

The food is simple, fresh, sustainable and well prepared, the service is excellent, the atmosphere is comfortable (and not too noisy) and I like supporting the fact that the majority owners are family farmers and members of the North Dakota Farmers Union (NDFU) . They also distill their own whiskey at Founding Spirits. (located in their other restaurant Farmers and Distillers)

Are you confusing Spenard Roadhouse, which IS NOW a restaurant, with the OTHER closed restaurant which is now a sex toy store?

If so, your reading comprehension needs some work (even if English isn't your native language).

 

I was kind of wondering that myself, which was why I asked if I needed to clarify anything.

 

I have sooooo many favorites now. I can't even start to list them. My favorite in the area closed on Dec 30th, and I literally almost cried.

 

Ehh, there are probably kebab stalls in Alexandria that predate the birth of the mythological figure Jesus.

 

Living in the vast wasteland of South Florida,(We don't venture to Miami) the good restaurants are mostly gone, replaced by chains,,,Morton Steak House, Ruth's Chris....
There were some great ones...Burt and Jacks, Sheffields....others I have forgotten....
We do have a great Italian restaurant Cafe Vico...the best LASAGNA ...
