    So what happened???
    It's like they went down the vicious cycle and slippery slope and the road to hell all at the same time. :confused::eek::oops::mad:

    I remember voting for George Bush Sr. thinking that he could do it right.
    And everything since has gone south and progressively sick and slimy.

    Any conservatives have answers to this??
    Is it just because they have a better spin game than the Dems??
    Because they do...but I don't vote on words...I vote on actions and results.

    Anyone?

    It seems like a fake fight that the GOP wants to have to distract from other news. The business owners got their tax cuts and can funnel money to their kids to maintain the dynasties. The upper midwest workers who are Trump's base will benefit from the price of metal from outside the country going up. And the costs will be passed on the consumer. The rich and upper middle class GOP will gladly pay a few hundred more a year to implement their right wing agenda. The 60% of the country who disagrees with Trump isn't his concern, and he doesn't care if they have to pay more.

    All the wealthy have to do is to keep propping up the stock market and keep the feeling that the economy is doing well.

    The strange thing is Bush Sr. wasn't that popular with the GOP because he was a moderate. He also had to clean up after Reagan's policy of spend, spend, spend, welfare for the wealthy, and let the next administration figure out how to pay for it.

    That is why the idea and strategy behind the Tea Party is much better than the Green Party. Kasich has some pretty out there policies when it comes to a lot of environmental and reproductive issues, but he benefits from looking rational compared to the extremists in the primary. And while Kasich can't run for governor again, the Democrats are very lucky that he doesn't want to become a senator. I don't blame him for wanting to stay away from Washington DC though.

    This is what I've been saying for myself for a long time...it's not about conservative values. Which I have some of...and this man definitely has.
    It's about decency and integrity...playing fair for all.
    Value of truth and credibility.

    Yes, the Dems have their issues...but it nothing by comparison with the current GOP. Who have sold their souls for gains in power. Any means for an end.

    Republican tax law hits churches

    IMHO...this is a good thing the GOP did (and ironic too...considering their base and allies)
    If you have income...you pay taxes...they use the infrastructure and services just like anyone else. (and some "non-profits...profit in truth)
    Besides...separation of church and state, and all that.

    No free rides
    Now they just need to fix the new "churches"...the fat cat corporations (this is what politicians cater to anyway :rolleyes:)

    Technically, no, they aren't supposed to (and if they overtly endorse candidates, are supposed to lose their tax exempt status) but there isn't a politician in the U.S. who has the balls to actually enforce it

    The "Johnson Amendment" that prohibits churches and "educational" non-profits from political endorsements and active participation in political campaigns is still in effect.

    Trump has promised his religious base that he would abolish it but he cant do so with an executive order; it requires a legislative remedy and the last attempt failed.
