    This is a derelict abandoned grain elevator just North of I-40/Rte 66 and about half way between Amarillo and Tucumcari. It's unusual in agricultural architecture, in that most grain elevators have multiple cylinders in line. Like an old straight eight Buick Roadmaster. This single unit erection just juts up out of the prairie and is the tallest structure for many miles. No town, no railroad, no nothin'.:(

    Some locals call it "the penis of the panhandle.";)

    There used to be many rice processing? facilities around Houston, esp. on the west side. Most of them have been torn down, but at one time abandoned ones were a common sight. Katy, about 30 miles west of Houston, is now a large "urban" town, but at one time was mostly rice fields (which also made it a great duck hunting area). If the name sounds familiar it might be because Clint Black and Rene Zellweger are originally from Katy.

    I've seen a couple of missile silos. Kansas has dozens and there's an abandoned one is on my great-uncle Donald's farm. They're usually round and smooth on the inside.
    Above that is what appears to be a power generating plant.
