Crappy Food

fflowley Don't just do something, stand there!

You need some fries and a greasy paper bag to put it all in to get the total experience.
If you’re not doubled over in the bathroom 6 hours later then it’s not authentic.

For that added touch, put an "Out of Order" sign on the bathroom door and see if your brain can handle it!

This thread seems to want to equate crappy food with food that is common, lowbrow, or inexpensive. And items that don't meet the standards of the low-fat-eat-mostly-plants food cops.

A $100 mediocre French meal (not counting wine) with snooty wait staff... now that's crappy food!

Not sure if these actually qualify as crappy. Freaking amazing out of the freezer!

It has been a while since I've gotten them, but the frozen White Castle sliders are a guilty pleasure/crappy food for me too. Not the vegetarian ones, but still, I think they qualify here. I often dress them up with some spicy mustard or extra cheese.

I made nachos today. Ro*tel would have been more delicious. I miss Texas.

I'm surprised that you can't find Rotel products in California. There is quite a variety at local stores here in Lincoln. I also would buy it in Boston area.

It's convenient but not very spicy to my tastes but can be a timesaver. But that's my NewMex heritage. I was just reading a recipe for carne adovada in Cooks Illustrated that called for 1/2 tsp of cayenne. 1/2 tsp:rolleyes: with a 4 lb pork roast. I'm not sure I would notice. Never trust a Mexican (old or New) that comes out of Brookline, Mass.

For a Rotel substitute try adding one of those little 4oz cans of green chiles to regular diced tomatoes.:)

Our family's nacho recipe is corn chips topped with sharp cheddar and fresh or pickled jalapenos. That's it. And heated in an oven, not a microwave. Which browns the chips just a tad and keeps then from getting soggy.

I thought this thread would be a good place for this find... Why food porn looks so good. Just don't eat it.

A friend brought over some truly terrific Mac n cheese the other night. Sharp cheddar, smoked Gouda, and Bleu Cheese, with assorted pasta, and bread crumbs on top. An incredible variant. Definitely the opposite of EasyMac... Which my daughter just convinced me to purchase at the store.
