Curious...anyone else had a serious case of nostalgia that brought them back to the site after years away?
Me...(Raises hand). Wondering if anyone else falls into this category recently.

I didn't see Art...or BlahBlah or Ace or some of those folks...but it's only been a night...

(So glad it's still here btw!)

    Who cares, really?
I've been here since the end of TFP 4.0, which is almost ten years ago, and only took off 6 months a few years back to get life in order. I don't recognize any of those names, so I'm guessing they made tracks a long time ago.

In any case, welcome back! :)

Yeah, I did so years ago.

    When the site changed owners.
The original and I had a falling out...for good reason.

But there's something about this place that attracts...the conversation, the comrades...a way to express yourself.
One that other places don't seem to do, IMHO.

So I came back...and it clicked again. (thanks @cynthetiq )
We see old-timers pop in here and there...but the web has grown extensively and there are ubiquitous distractions

I take it all as it comes
But still enjoy the interaction. (not being one for chats and IMs)
This allows me to read and reply, in my own time.

    People flow in and out
    Just like IRL

We enjoy their company during those times.

I agree wholeheartedly. It’s always been excellent for discussion and self expression.

Gotta ask then..what happened to Hal?

Well, I came back because you messaged me! Funny how it just takes one lifeline to get you sucked back in.

I was thinking back to when I first started posting here, I think it must have been in 2003. Guh, what a wild ride, I was just out of high school!

I'd have to check the 4.0 archives to see when I first joined and left.

My return/reincarnation is easy, it's all here.

In some ways I miss the "old days" and in some ways I don't. An active forum of this nature usually means a mix of personalities that sometimes clash, but such is life.

yes, i frequently think about this place and how sad it is that it doesn't seem to have the same flow it once did. this used to be my frontpage to all things digital. something happened in society or politics, i came here to discuss it and see what others thought. the game sections. all of it.

i'm friends with a few people outside this space now. i really dislike all the information issues around platforms like facebook and reddit, but tfp doesn't seem to have the same critical mass or traction or something for me these days.

i still check in from time to time, and i'm always happy to see it still rolling along. i keep thinking maybe it'll somehow kick back in, particularly as we learn more and more about the data harvesting and influencing running behind social media. this place will always be an important part of who i am.

This place has in some ways made me who I am. Some things that never interested me, now do to a point. Meaning if I click on a thread you never know what you might learn or have an interest in. Everyone here I consider my family. And would help them in real life if they needed it no matter what
