The NFL, or at least the person chosen to rule on the appeal, surprisingly showed some balls by upholding Vontaze Burfict's 12 game suspension.

IMO Burfict should've been tossed out of the NFL before now, but at least the foundation is now in place to make his next suspension permanent. What the hell goes through the mind of someone who has lost millions of dollars because of fines & suspensions when they intentionally nail a defenseless player?

Don't get me started on the comments from Jon Gruden and Derek Carr. What would their respective reactions be if Burfict concussed Carr (or broke his neck) with a clear cheap shot?

    ..............

    I don't know if we have a MLB 2019 thread....so I'll post here.

    The Braves yet again choked.

The Dodgers got shocked, big time, especially yesterday. What you did during the regular season might not mean shit during the playoffs.

Can the Astros avoid a major choke? Game five is here, and they had a great home record this year. But their overall playoff record at home is pretty bad. And you know the Rays are pumped for the upset.

The Chiefs got embarrassed, at home IIRC, by the Raiders.

And now the Texlers travel to face the Chiefs.

    What could possibly go wrong?

Georgia Republicans blame the loss on the banning of the tomahawk chop.
‘This is karma’ Georgia Republicans knock Braves tomahawk chop drop

And the Washington Nationals won their first playoff series in their 15 year history with a grand slam in the 10 inning at Dodger stadium. Going back to the days of the Washington Senators, it is the first playoff series win for Washington since the 1924 World Series.

    Back to the NFL....

I love a good underdog. If the Astros can't maintain, or regain, their regular season form, I'm all in for the Nationals.

Nationals vs Astros WS? Why not?

The Astros did it, jumped all over the Rays starting pitcher. A lot of experts, including the pitcher (I'm on my phone, don't want to look up his name), say he tipped his pitches. That's fine with me.

    Getting past the Yankees? Hmmm.....

    Back to the NFL.....

It's crazy to say the Patriots are "in trouble," but are we seeing signs of ageing in Tom Brady? I hope so. Maybe by the end of the season mr. terrific will be beat up, and the Pats will quickly get knocked out of the POs.

    I can dream.........

It took five tries to get my phone to accept mr. It keeps wanting me.

fflowley Don't just do something, stand there!

I'm not sure we are seeing the decline of Mr. Brady yet......but I watched the whole game against the Bills and they totally shut him down. Cold.
I'd like to give the Bills D most of the credit for that though.

the giants defense kept the pats offense in check.

the falcons are on their 4th punter of the season. they tried to get one guy from Australia, but he couldnt get his visa in order in time. the guy they have starting on sunday has one yes only one punt in a real game and it was for 50 yards and it was in 2017

I'm not making any effort to watch the Texlers. They blew it last year. Yes, they had a great regular season record (too many close wins over bad teams) and made the POs (the Colts knew in advance what play the Texlers were going to attempt).

Brady has looked human in several games. Solid defenses certainly deserve much of the credit, but I'm seeing (perhaps wishful thinking) some decline. Of course Brady at 75% is still 25% better than most starting NFL QBs.

    Baseball........

If the Yankees pitching lives up its reputation--like it did last night--the Astros could be in trouble. One home loss, and home field advantage is now moot.

    NFL.......

The Chiefs have something to prove. I can see the Texlers receiving a major ass-kicking.

How do you beat the Chiefs?

Don't let their offense have the football; TOP was over 19 minutes in the Texlers' favor.

Can the Jets actually beat the cowgirls? Darnold's pick just lost the Jets at least three points.

How many defensives penalties did the Jets commit on the cowgirls last TD drive? And missing the (most likely) game ending pick?

    But at least they won.

Three losses in a row for the girls.
But the Eagles can't take advantage.
At least the Redskins & Keenum won today.

    Good question.

    ..........

So far in the 2019/2020 season, previous to the Sunday night game yesterday, Baker "Move over, Brady" Mayfied had four TD passes and eight interceptions, his QB rating is about 40, and he ranks 26th among starting QBs.

    Welcome to the NFL.

    ..............

The Astros must enjoy driving their fans crazy (they barely won game two, 3-2.) Now we need a road win in NY to regain home field advantage, and hopefully use it to ice the Yankees here in game five (more wishful thinking).

    MLB.....
The Nationals are for real. I'm a firm believer in momentum over regular season record entering the POs. The Nationals have it.

Have the Astros slowed the Yankees momentum? Hmmm....we'll see.

    NFL.....

The Lions got totally screwed. I think it's safe to say the officiating crew cost them the game. But settling for FGs too often will cost you some games.

I think Mayfield's number are actually worse than what I posted, the info I found a little dated and I misread it.
