We have at least two active members here who'll be following the WS. And I've been clogging up the NFL thread with baseball comments.

I have no idea who's going to win. Both the Astros and the Nationals are talented teams; the Astros have experience, the Nationals have momentum. I know the Astros were totally overwhelmed in their first WS in '05, but I don't see that happening with the Nats.

Sherzer has been playing with fire.

And the Astros are letting him.

The score could be much worse than 2-1.

Oh crap, Soto homer. Solo, thankfully.

Well, considering I live near DC, it’s no surprise I’m gunning for the Nationals

The Astros are also "gunning for" the Nationals.

    Rough top of the fifth.

Ok, wrong phrasing to show support
    My brain is fried

The Nationals will execute a lot better than me

Congrats to the Nats. I don't know often they can walk the edge, but their pitchers did time and again.

When you leave that many runners stranded, you don't deserve to win.

    So...

Do the Astros figure out the Nats pitching to get base hits that score runs?

Will the Nats continue to play with fire? I'm obviously pulling for the Astros, but if I were a Nats fan I'd be very concerned about all the base hits they allowed.

Tonights matchup should be a low scoring game with strausberg vs verlander. Personally I'm rooting for the astros

I bet Alex Bregman feels like shit right now. And he should.

How many runs did the Nats score with two fucking outs?

    8-2. Three more chances.

    Low scoring???

Vegas odds makers must be dying
Much less those who bet against the Nats

During the regular season a team can go cold, and make up for it, or not worry if they have a really good record. Making up for it is extremely difficult in the playoffs.

Reality check, a hard look at the Astros.
    Down 2-0.
    Lost both games at home.
Couldn't win game one despite the Nationals trying, several times, to give the game away.
Took a serious ICU ass kicking in game two.
Unless the Astros miraculously figure out the Nationals pitchers, and batters, they're burnt toast.

Yes, I'm writing the Astros off, even if they manage a face saving win. If they can't pull even at 2-2, making it best of three with home field advantage (sarcastic snicker), the Nationals will win the WS.

There's a local businessman (I'm not going to give his company any free advertising, the info is easily found if you're interested) in Houston who stands to lose around $20,000,000.00 if/when the Nationals win. 10M in free merchandise, 10M bet.

Well, I guess he’ll have a serious write off
I wonder if the IRS will accept that as a business expense
No more questionable than other write off I’ve heard

I’d think he’s already done the research on that, if he’s not a fool
    It’s free advertising either way

    It ain’t over until...
    And everything counts

We saw this in the Cubs/Indians world series
It came down to the wire

Who could have predicted the Nats would be coming home for the first World Series game of a Washington MLB team since 1933 with a 2-0 lead in the series!

Riding the "big mo" train into Nationals Park, but as noted, it aint over yet.

Would love to be there tonight (not for $1,000+ for standing room only ticket from third party ticket sites) but I will be partying with the animals at the National Zoo at the annual "Night of the Living Zoo" (but not participating in the costume competition).

I'd love it if the Astros woke up and started hitting the ball, especially at the right times, while the pitchers showed why they made it to the WS.

    Tonight's game is huge.
    A manageable 2-1 deficit?
    A nearly insurmountable 3-0 lead?

Trump is planning to attend Game 5 (if necessary) but wont be throwing out the first pitch.

Instead, it will be local chef Jose Andres (Jaleo. American Eats Tavern, others) who has created an international foundation to provide food services in countries hit by natural disasters. He had food kitchens up and running serving thousands of meals in Puerto Rico before FEMA hit the ground and he was highly critical of Trump.

Trump critic Jose Andres gets to throw a World Series first pitch -- and Trump doesn't

I promise no more politics in this discussion.

Lots of stranded runners tonight, which has made for a very long game. 7:08 - 10:32, with 2.5 innings to go.

I just hope the Astros can hang on for the win.

    Yes! 4-1.

2-1 is much better than 3-0.
2-2 would much be better than 3-1.
