Leaving today to pick up my new puppy. I'm a bit worried about hotels and such; but my baby needs to come home.

“Act as if you’re infected and don’t want to pass it on. Not as if you’re trying to avoid being infected.”

"Most people have a fear of acquiring the virus. I think a good way of doing it is to imagine that you do have the virus, and change your behaviour so that you're not transmitting it," he said.

Safe travels, hopefully it is a trip where you can minimize interaction along the way.

    Good advice.

The governor here asked everyone to stay home this weekend if they could. Hopefully people listened.

Lazy happiness is what happens when this family is told to stay home.

We are currently not seeing clients at DVR.
They are coming up with ways for us to use Skype and phone interviews.
We will follow the procedures that we use for our Bush (rural) clients, text, fax, mail, phone, computer, even for our people in town.
We have a fairly small office so their isn't a high exposure rate working together but if things get worse, they will come up with ways for us to work from home.

We are living in interesting times.

There was a lot of historical amnesia about the massive disruption to American life in 1918. Little was written about it right after the fact. One recent columnist attributed that to people being ashamed of how badly/selfishly they behaved during the crisis.

I frequently walk in a cemetery near my house which has hundreds of 1918 graves. This isn't even the main cemetery, then or now, and it was a much smaller town then.

I am happy that I get time with my family.

There was supposed to be a rocket launch this morning. It was scrubbed at the last second.

There are a lot of tourists in town. There are too many people in the restaurants. It's spring break in Florida. That's to be expected.

We are staying home as much as we can right now. Keeping ourselves out of the way. I did go grocery shopping this evening. Shopped at a local store in the hopes that it would be less busy. It was.

NYC is just a few steps away from total lockdown.

    Schools finally closed.
Restaurants, bars, movie theaters, clubs, museums, Broadway are all to be closed Tuesday.

fflowley Don't just do something, stand there!

I might have thought that would be the case......but for me, no.
    I feel mostly sad.
Sad that my kids are missing a big chunk of school time and the growth and learning that goes with it.
Sad that we can't plan upcoming events like vacations.
Sad that kids on our favorite college hockey team won't get to play for a national championship.
Sad that this country lacks leadership and that large segments of society revel in being ignorant of science and rational thought.

My 7 year old is sad. She loves school and is disappointed that she won't be able to return anytime soon. We had some rough times this morning but she seems to be adjusting all right. We'll see how tomorrow goes.

And the Tri-state governors agreed to in lockstep have a curfew 8PM - 5AM. Not sure what that means yet but here we are.

The hospital my wife works at just cancelled all surgeries and other invasive procedures for the next few weeks unless they are considered necessary to save a life.
