If I lived in an area where there were a lot of cases, I might be a little more paranoid like that. I haven't been to the grocery store in two weeks (16 days), but I am about to go back. I will wear a full face mask and gloves, because I feel that it will reduce my risk a lot more than wiping off food packages and using plastic bags. I trust my reusable bags to not be contaminated a lot more than the plastic bags that have been touched and in the same air breathed on by others for hours...

At some point, we should be finding out if grocery store workers are contracting it at high rates in order to know how dangerous it is on surfaces and in the air at the stores.

my wife went to Kroger yesterday, afterwards she called and asked me to find some ground beef, like 3 pounds or so, some hot-dog buns, and a gallon of milk for our older elderly neighbor. and of course i had no problem with it... i went to Walmart just because their is one right down the street from work. that place was a mad house. i was able to get what she needed, but holy fuck. their were 2 women arguing over the last thing of laundry detergent. seems like people are just crazy. yes it was my first experience at a store since all of this started. i have a deep freezer full of all different kinds of meat. beef, venison, squirrel, etc..... yeah thats the southern in me. lol

    UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE WEEKLY CLAIMS
In the week ending March 21, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 3,283,000, an increase of 3,001,000 from the previous week's revised level. This marks the highest level of seasonally adjusted initial claims in the history of the seasonally adjusted series. The previous high was 695,000 in October of 1982...

More: A record 3.3 million Americans filed for unemployment benefits as the coronavirus slams economy

As noted in the above article:
The true number of unemployed so far from the coronavirus is likely much higher than 3.3 million because a lot of workers are not allowed to apply for this particular benefit. Self-employed workers, gig workers, students, people who did not live in the state last year or workers fewer than six months last year are typically not eligible to apply for unemployment insurance in most states.

One of the significant benefits added to the Senate stimulus bill approved yesterday (still awaits House vote) is higher unemployment benefits, including eligibility for self- employed workers, gig workers, etc. thanks to the demands of Pelosi and Schumer.

    From Schumer press release:

First, this relief package includes a dramatic and historic expansion and reform of the unemployment insurance program, something Schumer has called ‘Unemployment Insurance (UI) on steroids.’ Schumer conceived this plan with an understanding of how the modern New York economy functions and to provide more generous benefits during this crisis to a greater number of New Yorkers, including those who have non-traditional employment like freelancers and gig workers. The extended and expanded UI program in this agreement increases the maximum unemployment benefit amount by $600 per week above one’s base unemployment compensation benefit and ensures that workers who are laid-off or out of work, on average, will receive their full pay for four months, a full quarter. It ensures that all workers are protected whether they work for small, medium or large businesses, along with the self-employed and workers in the gig economy...

This weekly record of 3.3 million Americans filing for unemployment benefits will get bigger even with the stimulus funds for businesses to help keep their workers employed. This in uncharted territory.

Man, what better way to defeat your enemy than totally destroying their economy? Create a virus with another country or two, let it go wild and watch your handiwork do its magic. You don't even have to start a war or use any other weapon. Pretty slick.

Good god, I'm getting even more paranoid than usual.

“You may be paranoid but that doesn’t mean they aren’t out to get you...”

Besides Russia, China and North Korea IS attacking us and other countries daily thru their hackers
(certified by my biz and other sources)
So who knows what other nefarious things they’re doing...
Putin & baby Huey are literal mad men...intelligent, cunning but mad. Xi I’m unsure of...TBD.
    They’re certainly capable.

I mean we DO have the MAD principal in nukes.
Why not biological warfare??? If one is not expecting it...strike.
However, if so, I don’t think they were ready for it to spread like it did.
Cause Russia and NK are getting hit bad too
They’re just lying about it, like China likely did.
    Of course, it’s all speculation
Then again, we never though we’d be plagued with a plague either.

    * not often I get to use “nefarious”

Sorry to butt in, I had some spare time finally but back to the grind. Work is weird now, gotta keep my nose to the grindstone.

They say it was not man made. I watched an hour and a half video interview with a virologist who stated he saw copied viral bits in this virus, including the Aids cell connectors. Not actual Aids, just the cell connector. I just feel it spread way too fast for human's NOT to have had a hand in it. But, I'm no virologist.

@ralphie250 - the challenge is that it’s becoming apparent that China has manipulated information.
And it’s moving so fast that even experts haven’t had full time to examine it fully. While it been “debunked” there’s still unusual things about it.

It may be wild...doubtfully fully man made or militarized. If the source wasn’t natural, there IS speculation China was just doing full testing on it in their labs, because they got hit with MERS and SARS before. (there IS a science paper on it from the labs a year ago). There may be a chance that what they were examining leaked or seeped out despite their preventive measures and protocols.

But this also hasn’t been fully reviewed and needs to have the cooperation and transparency of China to examine what really happened, no matter what the source...natural or a human lab or facility. Problem is, China isn’t in the mood to be transparent and they’re actually blaming the virus on other nations, somehow...deflecting blame or origin.

It’s going to be years before we really know what happened. Even the previous outbreak of SARS took 3 years for a full science report.

    It’s not man-made or militarized.
What I was saying was it’s potentially a natural virus that may have been tested and studied in the lab...just like any animal or plant.
Please don’t confuse the 2 distinctions.

So it would give indicators that it’s natural because it IS natural. It’s just a natural one that some how got out of the lab. (again, they WERE studying it, there’s a whitepaper from the lab on it)
    Vents, drains, even through walls.

Now, I’ve got high confidential sources that confirmed this is more possible. There’s what the media and scientists know and there’s what intelligence and security and secured scientists know. I cannot say more. Sorry.

Now, as before, you can choose to ignore or not believe me. Unfortunately, I haven’t been wrong yet.
I can only put it out there. And yes, I fully realize this makes me sound intense, conspiratorial, if not looney.

    But nuff said. We’ll see.
All I can say is I hope we are all alright, no matter where the damn thing comes from.

    * BTW, my source also confirmed the incubation period is 37 days or approximately 5 weeks. So the 14 day quarantines are not effective. They get out, then it still spreads.

Again, we’ve been underestimating this from start.
Including the media and many scientists and experts.

Good luck, be well, play it smart.

So this is my question. My work tells us if we are tested positive then we will get paid for a minimum of 14 days or two weeks whichever way you want to look at it. They also tell us that if we do not feel good to stay home now I am asking a general question. So let's just say I stay home because I do not feel good I personally have plenty of vacation time so this does not apply to me it's more of a general question. And if I stay home until I feel better but I go back to work and they tell me I have to have a test before I can. For instance there is a guy in the parts department whose wife is being tested for it and Tuesday will be 2 weeks that he has been out he is not getting paid unless his wife comes back with a positive test if she does not then he has to use vacation time let's just say he does not have two weeks vacation time so he just sat at home not getting paid because his wife did not feel good basically. So what exactly are you supposed to do are you supposed to risk not getting paid for two weeks or a week or do you go to work and potentially infect other people? I do not understand how famous people or celebrities or even the vice president can be tested and have a results within 24 hours but yet the average person it takes a week or two to get results. It's kind of a catch-22 you're damned if you do and damned if you don't. You either come to work are you stay home and potentially risk not getting a paycheck for a week or two weeks or however long how is that fair to the average person? I understand that if you told everyone that if you do not feel good to stay home and we will pay you I understand that there are lots of people that would take advantage of the system. And I guess that's where things go downhill if that makes any sense.

At first I was concerned but not overly concerned about everything going on but the more I understand it and the more I see how many people are being tested and having a positive result makes me more concerned. I guess I wonder how many people actually have the virus and just have not been tested time compared to those that have been tested if that makes any sense at all

fflowley Don't just do something, stand there!

Ralphie it is indeed a cluster fuck.
The good news is a rapid test will become available this coming week, so you at least will be able to get an answer quickly.

    https://nypost.com/2020/03/28/shipm...questions-about-chinas-coronavirus-reporting/

And you think China is being cooperative???
This is just the tip of the iceberg.

Funny thing is, it’s almost like the Men In Black inside joke of the tabloids showing hints

    But there ARE more things...
Unfortunately my sources shouldn’t even be talking to me. (Little thing called jail, y’know)

It’s a spooky world...and it just got spookier.
    Really spooky...what I’m NOT telling ya. Can’t.
And I do hope it doesn’t happen...at least not too far.
    Damn I sound crazy...

I just hope we all get through this decently.
Sincerely, with better government and care too.
    Just do the right thing.
