I don't care to much about the ethics at this point, but I think they would get plenty of volunteers in prisons and jails to test the vaccine on. The ones that refuse would be control cases. I would even say they should knock a month or two off of their sentences if they volunteer.

Nursing homes and active senior living places would be another good test case to pull volunteers from. Especially if they aren't going to follow the mask and isolation guidelines. Doctors who work with covid patients would be another group i they haven't been infected already.

Our Republican governor Greg Abbott issued an order making wearing masks in public mandatory, with few exceptions, starting tomorrow.

A couple of months ago he said he didn't have the authority to issue such an order.

Our even more conservative Republican Lt Gov Dan Patrick has slammed Abbott for the order. Sounds like he's aiming to move up the food chain (the Gov and Lt Gov are elected separately).

Of course all of the order comes two to three months too late.

My government connections have said that it came from the Wuhan lab.

Here’s the catch, it’s natural NOT man-made or manipulated.
That’s what is throwing some of the reviewers and experts.

Wuhan lab WAS studying natural viruses
Even wrote a white paper on it in the last year or so.

Supposedly, it leaked out or was inadvertently released.
Past their safety measures and protocols.

    China lied about the release/leak
And it lied about how many it killed and impacted

    ———

Now, question is...what will be really revealed
And what will they do about it.

The US won’t reveal publicly their knowledge, from what I’ve been told.
This would put in jeopardy many spies and intelligence assets.

I doubt the current administration will attack directly
But there may be a cyber war that happens instead.

In the end, it depends on what we find out over time.
Both confidential and public or scientific
And what governments chose to do with that.

We may never know the full details
And we not see any consequences for some time.
And those may be subtle and covert.

But there may be changes with administration changes
I’d say we’ll see what goes down by next year.

That’s the way the cookie crumbles.
    It’s a mess

You might remember me mentioning a trip to a local gun store. In brief, out of around eight employees and 20-25 customers, we only saw three customers (we counted for two) wearing masks.

Today our state mandated mask order went into effect. Since we were in the area we stopped in at around 2:30 to check for some ammo. We didn't stay because the line just to be helped was long, and then there was the checkout line. Again there were around eight employees working, and none were wearing masks.

Every other store and shop we visited had multiple signs clearly stating no mask no service.

I'll protest with my wallet. But it won't matter much to them, not with a nearly full parking lot on a Friday afternoon.

Texas is one of four seriously hot states.

Texas still ranks 47th (it might've moved up, or down, a spot) in testing.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott refuses to acknowledge that reopening too soon has played a large role in our high number of Covid-19 cases. He blames the bar reopenings (done under his guidelines) and ties that into the 18-35 l demographic ignoring social distancing. He's now stressing how we need to take Covid-19 seriously, but a few months ago he was pushing the importance of reopening over health concerns. He was basically a persona non grata, but now he's showing up for TV interviews.

    ---------

I should write a musical, "Welcome to Texas, Covid-19!".

I guess sooner rather than later...to do the right thing.
But it would have been much better sooner.

Basically, voters need to have memories and hold politicians accountable.

Otherwise, they get away with tons of crap.

Yes, the web puts up lots of bullshit
But one benefit, it reminds people of the lies and spin.
    Corruption and destruction

I’m hoping many political hacks get their comeuppance.
Both media and officials...this bullshit cost lives.
    And Caused even more harm.

I'm just shocked that the right-wing media didn't push the mask thing as the best way to get Trump re-elected.

Had Hillary been in office and she declared that everyone needed to wear a mask, I could see a lot of people not complying out of spite. However, the easiest way for Trump to win over moderates is to be able to declare victory over the virus soon. Masks would let him be able to do that.

    Followup...
And you just have to start connecting the dots...
A natural virus being studied at the Wuhan Lab

Coronavirus Related to SARS-CoV-2 Found in China Mine Was Sent to Wuhan Lab — Newsweek

Here they note something found in a China mine, then sent to the Wuhan lab some years ago.
And this one, did originate from bats.
(It was very lethal too, killed a couple of miners)

Again, it’s not likely man-made or manipulated
But something they were studying may have leaked out.

It’s up to China to put down their cards and stop bluffing

It’s not all proven, but there’s a lot not being transparent or reported...nor allowing outside experts to examine.
