This time of the year people get pressed into giving presents to other people.
But should companies, businesses or offices give each other presents ? That is not the individuals but the entity.
What are your opinions or do you have tales of either good or bad examples.

Sounds kind of silly to me. Are these publicly traded organizations that have to answer to investors?

  3. Doing business is about the people and the relationships created. Our suppliers send gift baskets, cookies, mugs or such stuff to say thanks us for our support throughout the year. We do the same for our customers. We send homemade fudge to our wholesale accounts and buy lunch for the crew at our top accounts.

I see no sense in the "entity" that is our business gifting the "entity" that is their business. As Cayvmann says, that's just silly.

    Bear Cub Goes down smooth.

I work for a large publicly traded corporation. Legally, our compliance lawyers would go batshit crazy if they tried something like that.

It seems fairly common for vendors to give out little things to their clients from what I've seen. It's more or less aimed toward those who they interact with, the people lower on the food chain get passed on the extras. I've never witnessed a client give a vendor anything... cause face it, you're already paying them.

  6. aquafox, I freaked my suppliers out one year... back at my previous job. I put together a package of pens, notepads, cheeselogs and knick-knacks and delivered them to the folks I depended on to help me provide for my customers on a daily basis. They had never gotten anything like that. For the next year I was their top priority. Whatever they could possibly do for me, I got. Totally worth the cost and effort.

At my current job, several of my customers think highly enough of our service to send gifts for my crew... gift certificates, boxes of cookies... just tokens to say "thanks."
