    YES, please!!!!

Group of bipartisan senators pushes for permanent Daylight Saving Time
This is long overdue but not likely to make it through Congress this session or anytime soon.

Now that would be a great thing. Yet, it probably won't happen because it would be good for too many people.

I wonder why the Arizona senators didn't join in, since they already have done this?

    Then and Now...

Trump at CDC, March 6, 2020: Citing a “great, super-genius uncle” who taught at MIT, Mr Trump professed it must run in the family genes. "People are really surprised I understand this stuff,” he said. “Every one of these doctors said: ‘How do you know so much about this?’ Maybe I have a natural ability.”

Biden today at CDC:. "We owe you a debt of gratitude." President Biden declared “science is back” as he and Vice President Harris visited the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention headquarters in Atlanta, where staff relayed concerns about coronavirus variants as they briefed the pair on efforts to combat the pandemic.

Only if they make a movie and release it then, because it isn't happening in reality.

There is plenty of footage out of Myanmar that they could use to help the CGI artists.

What is happening, tends to be moaning about the stupid in overall society. What we don’t like about it.
    Sometimes philosophical.

Here, it seems that some religious entities are finally calling to task the corruption in their leadership.

But lately, that’s actually the opposite of the overall conservative trend, doubling down on very inane activities.

Not conservatives overall, but those that are active in the party, leaders, influencers, etc.
    They drank the kool-aid.

Gives hope when places do the right thing.

Yeah...I agree. As I bump my own age difference thread at the same time I'm always astounded at how much men are slaves to their dick.

As far as Falwell goes...and religious culture generally, it seems like that culture uses religion as a free pass to acting without moral constraints since, religion so often includes forgiveness of sins for the promise of faith weather that faith can be actually proven as true and honest or just a heap of bullshit.

The first data from the 2020 Census will be released later today.

It will only show total population by state and, as a result, show which states will lose seats in the US House of Representatives and which picked up seats, starting with the 2022 election.

State Population Totals Will Be Used for Congressional Apportionment
    https://www.census.gov/library/stories/2021/04/first-2020-census- population-counts-will-soon-be-released.html

And, as a result of the mismanagement of the census count by the Trump administration, some by intent (particularly regarding minorities and undocumented immigrants - the decennial census is supposed to count all people, not just citizens, but Trump attempted to reject that Constitutional mandate) and some as a result of the pandemic (restricting on-site, door-to-door counts of those not responding by mail or online), numerous lawsuits will likely follow the releases of the data.

Detailed demographic data (race, income, urban/rural, etc.) will not be released until later this summer.

I am not sure how well the Census did at finding undocumented immigrants, I didn't find any, but also didn't work in an area where you would expect to. But, there might have been fear to report themselves to be counted, even if there was no threat for other government agencies. The legal documented tourists and students were the ones the I am kind of surprised that nothing was asked about.

I do wish that the Census had the followup door-to-door part right after April 1st last year, finding all of the people who moved was the tough part. Apartment building managers needed to provide information about which units were empty, which ones were corporate leased (executives probably wanted to be counted where their primary home and family is), college students were a mess this time with a lot of colleges sending students home to their parents, and they needed to have an option that some apartments got two census forms at the same address (just with a different address format). The self reported turnout was actually higher than in 2010, and with the exception of Louisiana, I don't think that any state didn't have as good of a count as was possible. It will be interesting to see the numbers though.

From what I understand, the new administration is going over the numbers and rechecking them.

Also, they’re going to do some additional door to door and invest.

Thinking that there’s been some fidgeting with the counts by the previous administration.

So, T is getting his recount...just not the one he wanted.
Frankly, I don’t care recounts what.
Do it over again, do it right, make sure it’s right.
Votes, census, COVID-19 impact, etc and so on.

I’m tired of the US and every count fucking with the numbers, reality and otherwise..just to save face, get what they want or to fulfill an agenda or vision.

Let’s start getting it all correct.
    It saves lives.
It keeps people from being hurt.
    It represents the public well.

Opinion | Congress Needs to Defend Vote Counting, Not Just Vote Casting

Uhh, they need to protect everything about voting.

They really need to expand the Voting Rights Act.
Frankly, make an amendment about it. (if that was possible in this current political climate)

Problem is you've got one major party in the US that has lost its way...fighting like a rat backed into a corner.
No way their state held congresses are going to cooperate.

Opinion: ‘I hate that question’: 7 experts try to answer who has the world’s best health-care system

Posted this on FB too....This is a great video, a good summary of the topic.
IMHO, no matter your politics or method...it comes down to brass tacks.
What is your best bang for buck?

Well, you can't get any more blunt and brutal than average life span.
And what is the amount spent???
If you see the graph in the middle of the vid (5:00)
Something has REALLY gone off for the US. No doubt, in comparison.
Too much $$, not as good results. Period.

Now, the question is what to do to get the US back in the norm?
Most people want to live longer, that's a "duh" thing.
Most want to spend less for it. No matter your "side".
But at least we have a goal point to focus on. "The Pack"
And we can try different things. Stop pointing fingers.
Because if the US doesn't, it will continue to spend MORE and people die sooner.

If you want it different...come up with an idea.
    Stop the words, the agendas...brainstorm.
Keep using the age for buck as a simple goal. (this is NOT political, it's a KISS concept)
    Then tweak it...bit by bit.
We keep trying to do big Hail Mary plays.
Just move the ball, one smaller play at a time.
Better than croaking earlier and spending a ton for it.

Screenshot of the graph in the vid
Doesn't look like the US is doing as well

Timely post because today the SCOTUS upheld Obama Care. I actually hate that name, it sounds like Obama was solely responsible, when in fact it never would've happened without help from the Reupublicans. And I remember Conman Trump saying replacing it with something better would be "easy" and then later commenting "this is really hard."

The USA is too far gone. We'll never have a socialized medicine system like many industrialized nations have. Here there's money in medical care, greed rules.
