Try getting the Elephant Turds to admit them going along with the election fraud lie helped cause the 06 Jan 21 insurrection. To admit hoping that ignoring it will cause it to fade from memory. Even though for many of them their lives, or at least wellbeing, were at stake.

Us vs Them is totally out of control.

    If you haven’t noticed
There’s quite a few conservative pundits that are now criticizing the GOP…

    A curious turn of mind.
    Curiouser & curiouser

Frankly, I wouldn’t mind an expansion of GDIs
    From both sides…
Coming to a rational and practical center.

I’ve always been that kind of mindset, even when I was Republican.

One of the most restrictive abortion laws in the US went into effect on 01 Sep 21 here in Texas. Basically no go after 6 weeks ( how many women even know they are pregnant at 6 weeks?). I hope it is shot down in the higher courts.

I don't like abortion being used as afterthought birth control. But I also don't believe females should be forced to give birth because they are females. How many of our male politicians who have followed the usual high school, college, law school, then politics path would want to interrupt that path to physically have a baby? To face the decisions involved in an unexpected pregnancy?

While abortion rights is not the issue I care about very much, the crazy right wing lawmakers are making me a lot more pro-choice with their tactics. They don't seem to want to do anything to the guys who get these women pregnant, nor teach people how to avoid unwanted pregnancies in the first place. I've seen how people wear masks, I now know why birth control fails so often.

However, I also blame the left for not wanting to fight the "culture war" and eliminate the debate. They would rather have the issue remain a problem to fundraise an get people riled up to go vote it seems. If the conservatives don't want sex ed taught in public school, let alone private or religious schools, well I'm sure a certain "hub" website could produce a fantasy version of sex ed for guys. And every horny 12-15 year old will be finding it on-line. They also need to make a remedial sex ed for adult couples too.

Planned Parenthood should do what other companies do and spin off a unpronounceable named company (something like LWWRG?) that is pro-abortion and providing information and services to women.

And then show the data that any of these laws is not deterring any woman, and is just wasting time and resources.

I am unconditionally pro-Healthcare rights for women's reproductive health.

I've always thought the philosophical lack of clarity around the notions of life, consciousness, the existence of the human "soul" basically made it a moot point.

I really think the point that the same women being denied abortion aren't legally required to register as organ donors - regardless of need of the orientation potential recipient or relationship shows that the arguments for anti abortion are bullshit. If that fetus goes through childbirth and immediately thereafter needed a skin graft from the mother to survive, she wouldn't be required to give it and the baby would die on the table.

In my opinion, the both major parties are corporate funnels for money saved control. The GOP is just more brazen because it's a fundamental part of their philosophy. Democrats have to at least pay some attention to the middle class and the poor.

[/b]edit/: finally was able to edit a small grammar thing.

I think I just figured out why many in the GOP are so willing to let people die…
Because they believe people will go to Heaven.
    Even themselves. Even “their own”.
They’re going to a better place.

It’s becoming a “death cult”. No exaggeration.
    Not direct killing.
    But allowing or encouraging death.
    Kind of passive-aggressive, y’know?

It also kinda explains why they’re so vs abortion so much
YET not minding death for anyone else.
I guess you have to be born first, then be judged to goto Heaven (or Hell)
(I’ve read somewhere in the past, newborns that pass have to go to Limbo, because of lack of decisions made)
Just pure speculation, but it’s a strange mindset or rule base, IMHO.

I just don’t understand allowing innocent people to die.
War? Sure, shit happens. Just minimize it.
But not in a stable country, not in peace.

    Just seems contradictory.
Then again, much of the mindset seems contradictory.

    Uhhh, you’re killing your voters.
And voters, voting against their interests and health.
    Doesn’t make sense…

    Don’t ask me, I’m Jewish/agnostic
We ain’t going anywhere else, imho

Senate Republicans prepare to block measure to fund government and stave off U.S. default — The Washington Post

Because that tactic always works… NOT
    It never works
    It always backfires on them

WHY are they doing it AGAIN???

I know you all are “conservative”
But that doesn’t mean, doing the same thing even if never successful.
    SSDD

Oh well, I guess I should be happy
    Because they’ll do it
It will backfire. (Since the public have realistic expectations to do their JOBS)
And the GOP will hurt again.
    Losing votes and $$$
And they’ll wonder why most people think they’re stupid & crazy.

It’s just that it has so much dmg, even iF brief.
AND rates go up because default.
Oh, they’ll loan the US money still but they charge more for it.
    Your taxes gone.
All from the party that hates taxes l

    Ironic, ain’t it. :|

Covid Is killing rural Americans at twice the rate of people in urban areas — NBC News

I truly wish this wasn’t happening

The GOP is killing off their base.
This will change elections to their disadvantage
This will change the census and demographics to their disadvantage

And the ability to do remote work will change it too
With “liberal” and coastal people moving to the rural areas to save on more inexpensive homes and total cost of living

They’re going to be dying out faster than they ever thought
And since they’re acting looney, that’s a beneficial thing

Again, I do wish it didn’t happen this way
    Very sad

It might change some of the purple areas, but I don't see the demographics destroying the GOP anytime soon in the Midwest.

We will learn more with how the 2022 and 2024 elections play out, but even with 700,000 Covid deaths and hundreds of thousands of deaths from overdoses and other causes, along with more young people turning 18, it still is going to take a long time to win in a lot of places.

    So MUCH more…
    Everyone opposing them
    Concerned with him
Media and news that aren’t allied with them
Need to REALLY start pounding this down.
    Use the law even

They tried to OVERTHROW the government!!!
Why so casual and slow about it?
Why be polite? Why be cautious?
    ACT!
    Speak out!

This is not about politics or policy
This is full sedition, rebellion and even treason
T violated his oath of office.
He was assisted in this…it was planned.
Although thankfully executed chaotically and stupidly

If anyone competent or cunning did it
We’d be a tyrannical nation, like what Russia is.
    One hard party like China.

I just think they’re meandering along
Media playing “fair”, still giving both sides, or whatever make a better lead, bleeding

This article below states how “fair” is actually unbalanced in this very lopsided criminal situation.
    (Sorry, it’s paywall)

It would be like someone attempted to kill or kidnap you…and you said, wait..we gotta be fair to that criminal and take it slow in jailing them.
Can you imagine police saying…nah, we’re not going to arrest them. We’ve got to wait to fully prove what we saw in front of our faces AND cameras.

Why Republicans did well in the Virginia and New Jersey elections

So basically, the Dems didn't get out the vote...and the GOP did.
But that's pretty typical for a non-Prez election year.

The GOP base is more reliable...the Dems and Independent more fickle. (although they outnumber the GOP)

The Dems forgot this...fighting among themselves.
The GOP...they tow the line, every time.

And they focused on issues more (especially school) and less anything about Mr. T. (which is a good thing, IMHO)

^ Is the merge function is malfunctioning? ^

    Your post made today, 11-04-21,
    has been merged with your
    post made on 10-13-21.

This is somewhat confusing to read.

It screws up my ratings of the posts, which are kind of important to me, even if they're generally meaningless.

I've noticed this before, but this time the roughly three week gap really stands out.

    Yes...I know.
I've noted before...and stated it's confusing. And can mess with some dynamics.
But the rule stands for now.
    I'll note your statement

It merges in the main web GUI...but not through Tapatalk

Analysis | The GOP under Trump is a hostage situation — The Washington Post

Yes, but they’re pointing the gun at their own heads.

Just like the Dems trip over their own feet.
But MUCH worse self inflicted damage.

    Haven’t ya figured it out???
He doesn’t care about anyone but himself.

The GOP kinda got it in Virginia.
Now they just have to do the deed without T.

And frankly, it would be a LOT less scarier if you did it without him.
The party is a “normal” party with him not around.
No threat of destroying the Constitution
    Just “normal” GOP red meat.

T is like crack and heroin for them.
They’ll destroy the family to get a hit.

Go to rehab, stay away from that Orange Crack.

I don't know if it would be less scarier without him. I think it would be more, because they could do a lot without breaking any laws and using overwhelming force when they do. And people will think they are the successful country club or church guys types that aren't 'bad' when they do this. Anything their team does is justified to allow their supporters to maintain their lifestyle. Had the mob stormed the Capitol with guns to install Pence as President (same with Gore in 2000), they are both reasonable, non-corrupt public officials. But the changes that would happen to rural life would be worth fighting for in many people's minds.

This is a think tank experiment report that they did to play out what might happen in a few different scenarios. It is written by one of the guys who spoke at the rally on Jan 6th in DC, but it isn't as crazy as it is made out to be. It isn't necessarily out of the realm of what was possible, and might have provided a playbook for how to go about actually using the law enforcement across the country to assert power and put down any objections to actually stealing a close election with recounts and doubt. (page 25-31 of the pdf)
    https://www.claremont.org/79daysreport.pdf

My fear in the last election was that it was going to be a 269-269 tie. If GA, AZ, Nevada, and the 1 district in Nebraska would have gone the other way, it would have been a huge mess. What if it was 270-268? How much pressure would have been on that one Nebraska elector? If it was a tie at 269, I think each state has 1 vote and whoever has more house of Representative congressmen from their party would win. What if it was just one state that swung the election like just GA or just AZ? We kind of know what happened with Georgia and the pressure on that state's GOP officials to flip. But if it did come down to just one state like it did in 2000, I don't think things would have been as civil as that time. I couldn't imagine 538 votes and some hanging chads (or provisional ballots) making Biden the President would have gone over very well, when a four state victory made them storm the Capitol.
