So covid finally hit our family. My son got a fever and body aches last night, and a at home test this morning confirmed covid. The school sent out a mail saying that a third of the students are home with covid, so I suppose it was only a matter of time. The rest of us are fine at the moment but we'll see I guess.
Oh, and perfect timing, my wifes birthday is saturday so yay!

Yeah it's getting back to normal again. After my son the wife and I got it. Head and body aches, stuffy noses and tiredness. Oldest daughter got a head ache and the youngest got a fever and a pretty bad cough. All in all though like a bad cold. Happy about being boosted because it really felt like if we hadn't been it would have been a lot worse. Voluntary self quarantine over on Sunday so kids can go back to school next week.

10 reasons why scientists believe coronavirus originated from lab in Wuhan, China

And the pendulum swings the other way... (lab vs natural origin)
Y'know, this is why we can't have nice things
Because everyone has an agenda...even scientists. (yes, even Fauci)

What would the world be like if those in charge did the right thing?
Let the facts lie where they stood. No denial.

    How many would be alive?
    Just sad.

How many would be alive that otherwise have died? Zero.

How would knowing that it came from a lab change people's behavior to isolate, wear masks, avoid people indoors, leave kids at home when shopping, don't eat inside, wear biohazard suits when knowily around infected people, setup covid recovery hotels instead of putting infected people back in nursing homes or other group living situations, encourage more people to get vaccinated against a SARS virus that gained some functionality, etc?...

I wonder what the report will look like that analyzes the response to this pandemic. And what it would tell us about a future virus that might kill 20% of those infected, or 80%.

Now I don't know about how long this virus remains in the animals that they have found it in, and how they would reinfect humans. But after looking at the numbers from last Summer, the virus was having a hard time finding people to infect around me, even if half weren't previously infected or didn't have a vaccine. But I have a feeling that in 4-5 months the virus will be pretty much gone if there isn't a new variant. We are getting up to high levels of vaccine + acquired immunity (symptomatic or asymptomatic). And once it burns through the population that is exposed to the public and other people, it won't be around for the people who are protecting themselves to get infected with.

My wife has a 5:05PM appointment today for a COVID test. Her fever puts her under the COVID protocol at her job, so a lab test is required. She was at a music educators convention on Thu & Fri, and church on Sunday, but at least she has had her 2 + 1 vacs.

I bought a two pack home test, JIC I start running a fever.

Cases were also way down last Summer too, but there was a rush to open back up first. They removed the restrictions to be declared "right" and helping society to gain political points. But the basic things that should be done to stay safe while opening back up is the better way to go about it.

Why can’t some scientists just admit they were wrong about Covid? — The Guardian

Many were wrong, scientists and otherwise
    Still getting it wrong too.

This whole thing has been a good demonstration for ALL nations and people, what it takes to absorb something and adjust for it.

Turns out, we’re not so hot at it.
Good news, we’re better than what we were in the past.

    Lessons learned
    Still growing

Let’s get it better next time
Because it’s not if, it’s WHEN.

Let's hear the media admit they were wrong about Covid first.

I'm still not sure why one variant can stop the previous variant as quickly as it does. Public health isn't telling us a lot in order to protect businesses and religious groups. And the vaccine makers need to get quicker at mass production and multiple variant vaccines. There are also a lot of cold viruses that I wouldn't mind having a vaccine against too.

Actually, it's not that it stops it...much of it is because once they figure it out, it's already here and run much of its course...more so overlapping the two or three.
The media (and everyone else, including scientists) starts focusing on the new flavor of the moment.

And the vaccine makers, testers and approvers got all these out in unprecedented times (just months)
...before this, it usually took 4-5 years to go through a cycle (and that's fast)

Colds; that's a horse of a different color. (not even close yet...changes too fast and way too many versions)

A couple of weeks after testing positive - mostly back to normal, but still a bit tight in the chest and have an annoying cough at times.
