Whoa!! That is certainly eye-opening. I'm going need to give it a more thorough reading later.

How & why did so many highly educated people (many are attorneys) decide to participate in the movement to overturn the election? Did some of them see this as a meaningless joke or purely symbolic gesture that was so absurd it wasn't/wouldn't be taken seriously?

Our system of checks & balances is designed to prevent or at least discourage such ridiculously misguided actions. What's tremendously unsettling is how quickly & easily our elected representatives abandoned the integrity & good sense we rely on to make the checks & balances work.

By the time we got close to the 01-06-21 certification all or nearly all of the lawsuits & recounts were over. The overwhelming legal consensus was Biden defeated Trump in a fair election. I'm still trying to grasp why so many Republican politicians could not and would not accept such an obvious truth.

We see here, how FAST they can arrest and lock down a billionaire.
Now WHY can't they do this with T????

    Is it the prez precedent?
    The press of the GOP?
The judges put in by T and the GOP?
    $$$?
    Political groups with influence?
Bias in the DOJ with conservative or career protective players?
    Rich people support?
    All the above
    Etc and more...???

This crap has been lingering "FOREVER"
Yet this guy's shitstorm happened just days ago. (a couple of weeks?)
They got him and locked him up from another country.
    No bail
    And more...

Shows you the bias in justice and fear in politics can influence pace and action.
I mean it's OBVIOUS what T has done, at least what's been found so far...
Yet, he walks and is free.
He's able to throw every lawyer and ploy out there.

THIS is what's wrong with a probe(s) and the system.
    A bunch of CYA

EDIT: I totally screwed up trying to quote @rogue49.

Live updates: Sam Bankman-Fried, FTX founder, charged with fraud

One big reason Bankman-Fried was charged so quickly is he cost a lot of people with a lot of disposable income a lot of money. The scam at FTX didn't benefit enough people with enough clout to protect him.

Most of the charges are clear, & relatively easy to understand. The actual crimes not so much.

Cryptocurrency is a fairly new market, it doesn’t have the huge numbers of entrenched investors compared to say energy companies. The levels of CYA & finger pointing are considerably lower.

Attorney disciplinary committee says Giuliani violated ethics rules with 2020 election fraud claims — CNN Politics

About damn time, now keep it going.

That’s the thing, the guys below assisting get hit…even potentially go to jail,
But the top guy doesn’t get hit. (Just frowned on…like Nixon)

This time don’t just hit the assistant, though they should be too,
He the guy at the top. T please.

Let there be consequences for doing BAD.
    Even for top players.

It’s the only way the powers that be will behave.
    Consequences.

"Keep it going" is key. They have three more layers to go through before some action might be taken.

The good news is Counselori Giuliani could end up not being allowed to practice law in NY & DC, his two main hunting grounds. But at his age that might not mean much in the way of actually hurting him.

Hear John Dean's prediction about DOJ filing charges against Trump — CNN Politics

    Oh, he’ll be indicted.
And he’s correct about the secret scandal
    Before even Jan 6th.
    2 different issues.

However, they’re making T’s early announcement for prez too complicated.
    It’s about 2 things.

    1. It makes more reason to talk about HIM
It’s always about HIM. Classic narcissist.

    2. It allows him to grift more, get more money
    It’s always about $$$

    Both are deep-seeded personality traits.
    And he’s NOT that deep.

Cunning, perhaps…but it’s in the end about those 2 things.

And frankly, what’s gotten him into trouble.
Chasing after money in any way shape and form.
Or trying to get in power or stay in power.
He cannot comprehend how anyone wouldn’t want HIM.

The whole prez thing was not about being prez.
Other than status (he hated the job or anything complex)
    And getting more money…

This IMHO, will be his downfall, not the secret, not Jan 6th
But they’ll go after him for foreign influence and receiving gifts.
Something Presidents cannot do and it’s IN the Constitution.

    Emoluments Clause:
No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State.

He just went after the $$$ way too hard and too much.

And he’s connected with Saudis, North Korea, Russian and China way too much…if not others.
They’ll probably find kick-back schemes and after prez agreements everywhere.

When the FBI gets started, they’re REALLY good at digging.

They only thing holding them back would be MAGA insiders and his GOP popularity.
Which is going down quickly after all his lack of results in the recent election.

McConnell would LOVE to get rid of him…now.
The Senate won’t stop them as before.
And the House’s new thin margin, the House won’t be able to.

No impeachment needed anymore. (He’s OOO)
    Just pure prosecution now.
    That’s in the DOJ bailiwick.
The only thing that might save T are the judges.

If I know T, he’ll push it to the Supreme Court
But they really haven’t voted in favor for him lately.
More like punters at the most
Sweep it under the rug, let lower court ruling stand.

    Place your bets…

    Today,
    19 Dec 2022,
    1PM ET.

How to watch the Jan. 6 committee's final public meeting

    Will NPD Trump actually
    (e v e n t u a l l y)
    be convicted of anything?
    Possibly.
    Don't hold your breath.

    NPD Trump deserves
    to go to prison.
    The war of attrition.
    The judicial mollases
    that became cold mollases.
We'll be lucky if he gets
    banned from holding public
    office (a very good thing,
    but not full justice).

    Can the DOJ separate itself
    from the politics involved?
    Politicians from both parties
    live in glass houses.

    Let he who is without
    sin cast the first stone.

Let he who is with sin
    pretend there's no
    reason to throw rocks.

Well, it’s a first in American history.
However, it WAS the first time a president actually tried to get the election overturned
    AND
The first time creating a riot to keep him in office
    AND
The first time the capital was attacked by citizens, including threatening to harm the Speaker and the Vice President.

So, I think he started it.

Jan. 6 report committee releases 34 transcripts of witnesses who pleaded the Fifth

If y'got nothin' to hide, why...

And the GOP is keeping up its campaign of smoke & mirrors.

Well, y'all might be able to pull the wool over many voters eyes
But the Dems have now got your number...and have seen how LOW they're willing to go.
    They will take steps...

The Dems are not stupid. Slow...but not stupid.

Guess what...They've seen the man behind the curtain. (and he's orange)

The five Pro-Trump Republicans that McCarthy pulled from consideration for sitting on the Jan 06 Committee, after Pelosi rejected two them outright, did their own investigation of the Capital Building Security Failures. Their report, released yesterday, blames Nancy Pelosi.

Republicans release their own US Capitol riot report focused on security failures | CNN Politics

The NY Post article is an interesting read, to put it mildly. If you read it you should tilt to the right. There's plenty of blame to go round for members of both parties, but to twist it back to mostly on Pelosi is almost laughable.

I’ll tell ya this…the opposition to T has a piss poor sense of timing…
    Yet again,
    Releasing information and reports
    And again, *pfft*

    Doing right before Xmas???
So everyone is focusing on that.
The news is already over it.

    It’s like they’re playing wiffle-ball, not hardball.

    The ex prez,
    Connecting with Russia - whiff
Report on Russia-T connection - whiff
Quid pro quo on Ukraine/Hunter - whiff
    Impeachment for that - whiff
Actually tried to take over the US - whiff
Keeping secrets…and in open areas - a bit of smoke
Congressional Report after a year - whiff
    Etc and so on… *pfft*

This guy did so MANY things wrong - criminal even
His cronies did so MANY things wrong
Hell, the bad guys don’t even need to hide, repress and muddy waters
The “good guy” are like the Keystone Kops
    Pissing it all away
Dolling it out in such awkward ways, it’s mist.

    The build up…then “meh”

    Justice isn’t blind
    She’s just bored silly.

The timing reminds me of a late Friday news dump: Mix (hide) something you want to be overlooked in with mundane news when everybody is looking ahead to the weekend.

It could be compared to long anticipated sex that starts with extended hot foreplay, but ends with weak premature ejaculation.

The committee is going to disbanded at the end of this session. That doesn't excuse the last minute releases.

News about crooked politicians makes all politicians look bad; many politicians live in glass houses. Let the initial reactions die down, wait for them to die out almost completely, then quietly sweep the old news under the rug. Claim "healing" in necessary so that "we" can "move forward."

Some more possible reasons & positives:

The DOJ wasn't going to much of anything until after the holidays.

The holidays will give the people seriously interested in the report more time to read it thoroughly.

Too many cases mean too many plea deals (not that any of the insurrectionists deserve to avoid charges).

I certinly hope all the people convicted can never again legally own any type of firearm. If you heard some of the conversations I've heard in gun stores you would know how much that would hurt them. Of course legally wouldn't mean much to some of them.

Time for justice to move up the food chain.
