Since George Santos has been embraced by the GOP...as long as he's useful, & right now the HOR factions need him.

Behold the Full, Completely Real Resumé of George Santos

    ^ Possible paywall.

The pro anti-gay measures (supposedly) gay congressman (might've) performed as drag queen in Brazil.

I'm much more interested in knowing how he loaned his campaign money that appeared out of nowhere. And how his campaign money was spent.

A new low for the GOP?

Quite frankly, I don't care about GS, he's vulnerable and a no body...someone will take him out legally.
It's the other jackasses that have gained fame and influence that I'd like to oust.

I'm very curious to see how Santos will be (might be) taken out legally.

He might be a freshman, with baggage, & no power. But if nothing else he's a glaring example of how low the GOP has sunk.

My understanding is the district he represents would elect another Repub (I make no claim to be correct). If so, why are the Repubs not booting him?

Actually, they are…or at least starting the ball rolling.
    It’s gone beyond party control.
Same reason the Dems couldn’t boot Sinema.
    Once they’re in…

He’s obviously a fraud, they’ll get him on some type of fraud.
It’s just a matter of what to make stick.
    Justice isn’t just blind

I don't think that district would elect a Republican after what is going on now, but then again the GOP will fall in line and vote for another Republican.

Although it is kind of strange that he was the only Republican that ran for the seat in a "red wave" year. And he did win by 22,000 votes. He got more votes in 2020, but lost by 47,000. So ~69,000 Democratic voters didn't show up, but hopefully they are embarrassed enough to show up for a special election if he resigns or is forced out.

That's a glaring example of how voter indifference can make huge difference.

I wonder if this was fluke win for Santos, or was there some strategy involved? Given the Mystery Money* that suddenly appeared in his campaign, I lean towards the latter.

Unless something dramatic happens, the Pathological Liar will serve his term. I don't see him getting reelected if he runs again, but stranger things have happened. Publicity for taking "strong stands" on hot issues frequently carries more weight than doing something useful to resolve said issues (think Ted Cruz in the Senate).

*Mentioning Myster Money...that could be Santos' undoing.

The link to the original story published a month ago hit a paywall; hopefully the link to the current report doesn't.

It seems clear that Santos did not accumulate this kind of money on his own. Was he and/or his backers sloppy enough to leave prosecuteable evidence? If so, will he ever face any charges? Politicians -- from both parties -- are masters at pretending to do something about questionable campaign finances.

But this shows the rabbit hole the GOP has fallen down.
That they KEEP electing bad people. No matter the result, no matter the consequence.

There is NO integrity. Only corruption.
And they'll keep going, if allowed to.

The Dems aren't perfect. But they're certainly not as inept and twisted as the GOP has devolved to.
    Mountain v. molehill comparison.

Santos steps down from House panels amid ethics issues

Santos "voluntarily" gives up his two committee appointments, at least "temporarily," after meeting with McCarthy.

Which frees up the Repubs to go after a Dem on a key committee.

As Santos passes up his panels, GOP prepares to boot Omar from hers

Will Santos be quietly snuck back in after the news media attention dies down?

Or is this move preparation for Santos to get hit by a Campaign Finance hammer yielded by the FEC?

One thing I noticed is the FEC rules give politicians PLENTY OF TIME to re-cook the books. Any accountant worthy of the name, of course with flexible ethics, could come up with some things plausible enough to cause hesitation, even if highly unlkely.

Another edit: Santos' treasurer resigned her position on his campaign group & four others.

From what I read & heard, he was offered the treasurer position and declined, so yes, Santos (or his people) knew him.

It's looking as though the financial shenanigans might just be Santos' downfall.

Edit: My tablet is doing very strange things with my post, namely rearranging the links. I hope this post makes sense.

Another example of incompetence, and probably criminal actions, by George Santos. Note: The NY Times broke the story, but it has a paywall.

How about some straight up criminal activity? Stolen checkbook, my ass.

Will Santos ever be removed from office, face criminal charges?

The majority of the HOR Republicans are quiet about Santos. A few are saying he should resign. A few are saying he deserves a chance at redemption (as long as he votes in their favor). The GOP embraces & protects NPD Trump; I shouldn't be surprised that Santos is receiving its silent consent.

He'll probably never give up...he seems like a tooth & nail type guy like Mr. T is.
The big diff is he doesn't have the $$$ and ex-prez status like T does.
So no endless big lawyers and no benefit of the doubt "because prez"
He'll just lie to the end and hope no one acts.

    Something I meant to add.

    Santos' term is two years.

I'm sure the Repubs can drag the HEC "investigation" out long enough to ensure there will not be a special election in Santos' district.

They'll most likely wait for the news media coverage to die down, and then give him a symbolic slap on the wrist (Naughty boy, don't get caught next time).
