The state of Texas protects its criminal politicians (read up on Ken Paxton, Attorney General of Texas).

And Texas protects its law enforcement officers. Most people not living in a remote cave are aware of the Uvalde school shootings, and the numerous failures by multiple law enforcement agencies.

The Uvalde School Board eventually fired Uvalde School District Police Chief Pete Arredondo. Arrendo has won an appeal to upgrade his status so that he could be again be employed in law enforcement.

Uvalde police chief wins appeal to upgrade termination record

I found several broadcast news sources that referred to Arredondo's original dismissal status (private, exact status unknown) as a "blemish" on his record. Being an incompetent and indecisive coward in situation where 19 students and two teachers were shot to death is a "blemish?"

Marjorie Taylor Greene won't let something as trivial as getting her info straight stop her from talking.

MTG blames Biden for fentanyl deaths — that happened under Trump

The fact check response from her aide Daniel Dale is priceless. Can you imagine the repubs reaction if this had come from a Dem office holder? The scary thing is her supporters don't give a phuq about fact checking.

DOJ reaches tentative $144.5 million settlement with victims of Sutherland Springs church mass shooting | CNN

This is the situation where a decision was made to ignore and defy federal law requiring accurate reporting of exiting soldiers' discharge status. This was department policy, not simply one or a few people deciding to 'give the guys a break.'

Air Force failed to relay info that could have stopped firearm sale to gunman | CNN Politics

This seriously pissed me off then, and it still pisses me off.

Is there a name for when the military closes ranks to protect one of their own? Th Green Shield?

So, you think DeSantis would be a good POTUS? Maybe only for men (esp if they're wealthy & white).

Florida’s “Don’t Say Period” bill can’t stop the menstrual wave

Note: The above article is clearly an op-ed, possibly a rant depending on your POV.

A normal function of the female body that could affect a woman for 30+ years should have extremely limited discussion in Florida schools? I have no doubt TX will try something similar (might already be there).

Is this being backed by the kind of "men" who turn nauseus and walk away any time menstruation is mentioned?

    Are we returning to 1923?

The ERA Has Been Ratified, Declares New Congressional Resolution

Schumer announces Senate will vote on the Equal Rights Amendment this week

They'll be finally voting on getting rid of the arbitary deadline (* which is NOT in the Constitution, as a criteria for an amendment...it can take as long as it may)
But T's administration said, no soup for you...start over.

Well, it's been over 100 years.
To pass, which I don't know WHY they're doing this. (T said no, Biden can say yes), they'll have to get pass the arbitary fillibuster count (not that ANY senator will actually filibuster...and the Dems still haven't gotten rid of it)
This means if this strange vote to be effective, they'll have to get 9 republicans to vote for it.
Now there are 9 female senators...but that doesn't necessarily mean they'll vote for their own damn sex's benefit.

IMHO this is stupid. Why put us all through this???
Simply have the damn thing written into the constitution. (other than the GOP looking for the excuse to dismiss it and undermine it.)

And this is barely in the media's radar. Yet it's so significant.

This is why we can't have nice things.

Counselori Giuliani hasn't received much major news media attention recently, but he has been in the news, for the wrong reasons as usual.

    https://www.thedailybeast.com/rudy-giulianis-company-hauled-into-court-over-unpaid-phone-bill

Deadbeat Alert! Rudy Says He Can’t Afford To Search Own Records

What I find interesting, but certainly not surprising, is how NPD Trump and the GOP abandoned Counselori Giuliani (well, according to Giuliani) once his usefulness was exhausted.

Another big question: Is Counselori really broke? His consulting company seems to have money for payroll, at least for certain top employees. I wouldn't be surprised if he is (after stashing away money & protecting it from creditors), and I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't.

But that seems to be the MO these days: Mix lies & partial truths with truths until separating them becomes a Herculean task.

    A follow-up...

Soldier who Texas governor wants to pardon denied retrial

This is a step in the right (as in good) direction.

One of our local TV stations reported that the Texas Board of Pardons & Paroles had rejected the request to review the case. I can't find a report confirming this. Maybe I didn't hear the full report.

But other news sources say the request is being expedited.

Let's take a closer look at Daniel Perry...

Unsealed documents from the Daniel Perry case show he made comments on social media about killing protesters and Muslims | CNN

There were also some accusations that Perry had been on-line looking for ways to meet young girls. But the Twitter pages making those claims have been closed down. The legitimacy of those claims has to be questioned (unless the proof has been oppressed).

    Ron Desantis
    vs
    Disney

DeSantis signs bill allowing Florida board to cancel Disney deals

I don't think there's any doubt Disney & Florida have a mutually beneficial arrangement. It has probably benefitted Disney more than Florida, but that doesn't mean Florida should have any complaints.

It would cost Disney who knows how much money to relocate out of Florida. It would cost Florida who knows (exactly) how much if Disney leaves Florida.

Sometimes choosing to avoid a battle is painful. Desantis needs to suck it up; Florida needs Disney, & DeSantis needs his nose.

I had thought DeSantis was a lot more practical under the ass hole persona but he's turned full scale into another example of "believe them when they show who they are" kind of thing.
DeSantis's efforts on all fronts are completely indefensible on any level but childish ranting and pranking but with the purse of Florida's tax dollars not to mention any federal money we all allow him to play with.

Now this piece of garbage...the new turtle on the block, chinless Tate Reeves gov. of Mississippi fantasy POC massacre ???
    WTF??
