Just had this discussion with friends we vacationed with. We all felt like savages for a week not having them. :p

OK, I've had these questions on my mind since I first heard about bidets decades ago. Now I'm going to ask them.

The bidet rinses your ass, anus area I'm guessing, to remove fecal matter.

    Does it actually work?
    Does it leave some poop?
Are there times when extra rinsing is needed?

How do you dry your anus area?
    Toilet paper?
Some type of cloth dedicated for anus area drying (sounds gross)?

    *****
Something tells me I'm not the only person with the above questions. Per usual I'm the only one risking ridicule by actually speaking up.

Does it actually work? - Absolutely! It's also less abrasive and rough on those sensitive parts.
Does it leave some poop? - This probably varies by individual, but IME, not usually once you are done.
Are there times when extra rinsing is needed? - Sure, sometimes you give it an extra splash or some extra time. This probably also varies by person.

How do you dry your anus area? - Depends on the bidet. The higher end ones have an air dry option. (we are installing these in June when we remodel both bathrooms:

    ).

The cheaper ones do not have a dry option. You can pat dry with a couple TP squares (and check to be sure you are done cleaning properly) after. Something like this would be a cheap and easy way to see if you end up preferring a bidet. No frills, but has the basics and only takes about 10-15 mins to install, very little DIY skill needed:

Toilet paper? See above. With a simpler model, yes, to pat dry. If you have a problem getting clean easily due to diet, being sick, or whatever, you can also do a cleanliness check at this time with TP.
Some type of cloth dedicated for anus area drying (sounds gross)? Never heard of anyone using something like that, does seem gross.

FWIW, I had a lot of friends both online and IRL install bidets early on during COVID. Absolutely 100% of them refuse to go back, and many have upgraded from a simple/basic unit to a nicer unit, similar to what we are doing in several weeks. The "nicer" one I posted is actually still pretty cheap compared to some of the ultra nice units that can cost as much as a nice used car. TOTO and other brands carry some units that are $18-25k each. A contractor I had do an estimate for our remodel said he's installed some personally that were north of $10k/ea, and the contractor I ended up going with said he's installing them in more new builds/remodels than regular toilets.

    Borla nailed it.
Let me give you an analogy:
We have laying hens. Sometimes while working in their coop you touch chicken shit.
    It’s gross and it smells.
So you go inside and wash your hands. It’s obvious, right?
Would you go inside the house with chicken shit on your hands and just smear it around with a towel or a tissue and then declare that your hands are clean?
Your ass works the same way. :)

Could not agree more with @Borla and @fflowley—my bidet has changed my life immeasurably for the better and I don’t ever want to be without it.

Call me crazy but I’m bringing a portable one—let’s not kid ourselves, it’s a glorified squeeze bottle with a targeted high pressure nozzle, but it still works—with me on my bike camping trip in May.

For the general user bidets are a 10/10.
    For cyclists 11/10.

My daughter is sick today and when she's sick she gets extremely clingy with me specifically. Of course I love her and will take care of her but jeez, dad's looking forward to bedtime tonight.

I hate that she is sick. nothing is worse than your kid being sick. but when they get clingy sometimes that is the best part just being able to sit there with them. hope she feels better soon

When they had colds or ear infections I always found the combined river of tears, snot and drool flowing down their face onto my arm and chest rather appalling, I have to admit.

    Dear eBay,

Why do you have filters that only partially work?

If I select size 7 7/8 and 8 to limit the number of hat listings, I expect the resulting listings to show hats that are size 7 7/8 or 8, or perhaps XXL or the very rare XXXL.

I get sick of tapping listings only to find out the hat size is way under what I need; I didn't select the specific sizes just for the hell of it.

I was 5'9", am now 5'8", and I have size 13 feet and wear hat size 7 7/8" or 8". WTF?

"Standing your ground" in front of an elevator waiting to enter it makes little sense when it impedes others trying to exit the elevator.

Step back, or better yet don't stand right in front of the doors in the first place, and let the occupants exit. Duh!!

Driving behind a car clearly backing out of a parking space is NOT a good idea. Is this a sport in Mexico?
