It's been a month since I went on the vegan "Eat to Live" diet. I'll admit, we haven't been following it to the letter, but fairly closely. I've lost 10 lbs. and fit into my old jeans again!

After about three months of being vegan, I am confident in reporting that my net weight loss (no other factors changed other than diet) after my switch is approximately 20 lbs.

Last year, my doctor told me I was in the top range of my BMI, meaning that if I gained any weight, I would go from an ideal weight to overweight. Now I have a comfortable 20-lb. buffer, and I didn't even need to add any exercise! :)

I don't even practice portion control. I merely ensure that most of my meals are packed with balanced nutrition: lots of fruits, veggies, whole grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds—processed/fast foods only on occasion, very little added sugar, only the occasional alcoholic beverage, etc. I basically I lost 20 lbs. without even trying to.

Though I have been meaning to start exercising again (I'm so lazy and unmotivated). I'm currently looking into getting a 50% discount on a year-long membership at the gym. I'm not looking into losing any more weight, but I really need to exercise for other reasons: heart health, energy, stress management, and the like.

We portion out a few things: nuts, dried fruit, whole grains, and avocados. That is fine by me as vegetables are really quite filling, as are beans and tofu.

whatever gym they're at better hope the name doesn't show up because there isn't one good advertising benefit of that video. Scrawny dudes on weights and machines using them improperly, no chicks.. yeeeeeah... not good.

plus, that dude would get straight bitch slapped if he walked into my gym doing that shit - angry meat heads would rage his face.

Oh, such is the way of self-conscious, homophobic, overcompensating roid-ragers! ;)

or..it could be that doing that shit when people are working out is against etiquette and dangerous. If I'm doing something like drop sets and I'm on my heavy rotation and someone does that, it's easy to see how I could drop weights, throw weights or be injured. So yeah, it's not necessarily a homophobic thing, it's just that it's not particularly funny and it can cause issues.

Especially if you've been carb-loading before downing that killer stack and destroying your pecs, amiright!?

    Put the iron down, champ.

I'm not convinced that this was filmed in an open gym. Those people look more like extras than random gym rats, unless they just happen to be gym rats who don't mind being filmed and even play up to the camera.

It doesn't look like it was filmed on a smartphone.

I'll admit it looks more like a school locker room, but my point still stands that doing that shit can be dangerous. I'm sure most of it was staged, but if some fool decided to copy the act, he'd be smart to do it in a "closed" gym much the same.

oh, and I don't carb load before heavy lift days, I save the carbs for after my protein and BCAA intake .. I do half protein, low carb, and good fat before workout accompanied by the N.O. booster of my choice and then lift. So nyeh. :D

    Of course it's dangerous! :p

Look, if you want to be huge, you're going to have to scarf down a ton high-quality carbs. You can do a cutting phase before you compete, all right?

To grow like a monster, you have to eat like a monster.

    Now go!

I'm not going for huge, I'm going for complete definition with moderate build. ;) And if you want to get huge, you consume 2g of protein per lb of body weight. Listen and learn young grasshoppa.

My mentor Robert Cheeke says that you only need 1.5 g per lb. of body weight, but that you need between 3,500 to 6,000 calories per day, depending on the individual.

Shit, son, don't feed me no bullshit.

Your mentor is wrong. Most people who aren't trying to get huge but lift on an almost daily basis consume at least 1g per lb. The huge guys are consuming 2g and sometimes more during bulk season. Of course, everyone is different, and I'm not going that high so I'm not too concerned with it.

Hrm...one wouldn't think a vegan, ectomorphic, multiple natural bodybuilding champion would be wrong.

But you're right. Everyone is different.

That's pretty impressive, it's pretty hard on the wrist I hear. Hope you had a spotter.
I'm finally getting a little better at the yoga classes. Don't feel like puking on the instructor anymore. Feels pretty good.
    I'm typically a power walker.

I'm definitely overweight (275)...just don't look it. Being 6.2 and big framed, like a NFL player...hides it well enough.
But my bones still notice, they are starting to ache. And my heart feels it, doesn't matter what I look like, it still has to pump thru it all.

I used to be very fit and well built, but the stress & obligations of life has taken its toll...
So now, I'm going to be eating "different"...I don't know yet, what or how...I just know different, because my wife is going on a very strict diet.
Doesn't help that I'm hypoglycemic, so I have to eat something with substance every 3-4 hours, or else...

And I just signed up for my work's gym...so that will be convenient.
And I'm going to start using my apartment's gym too. (although in the past...I always loved Gold's Gym)
But why pay, if you don't have to?

I hope to at least get back down to 240...230 would be a dream.
Again, I'm big framed and an ex-builder, at 6.2 I'll never hit the "experts" recommended 195 (Shit, I haven't been that since 16)
Let's see if I can do it...but another "soap-opera" is coming our way, it just gets so ignored with all the trauma & drama and dealing with it.
